The Giants released tackle Will Beatty in February after he missed all of last season with a torn pectoral and there wasn’t much public interest in his services over the course of the offseason, but that appears to be changing now that the preseason is underway.

Tom Rock of Newsday reports that Beatty is healthy and worked out for the Jaguars on Friday. The Jaguars were reportedly impressed enough to offer Beatty a contract. Jacksonville signed Kelvin Beachum as a free agent, but Beachum is coming off a torn ACL and hasn’t been able to fully participate in practices yet.

The plan was for Beachum to compete with Luke Joeckel at left tackle, so adding Beatty could expand the competition or give the Jags an experienced backup in the event Beachum’s knee doesn’t come around.

Rock reports Beatty is mulling the Jaguars offer, but he could have others. The Eagles have reportedly been in contact as they prepare for the possibility that they’ll be without right tackle Lane Johnson for 10 games while he serves a suspension, although there’s no workout scheduled yet.

Beatty started 63 games for the Giants over six seasons, including all 32 in 2013 and 2014, before the torn pec led to his departure from the team.
