The Steelers may be in the market for another quarterback soon.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, veteran backup Bruce Gradkowski has a “sizable hamstring tear” which could keep him out a significant amount of time.
He suffered the injury in the preseason opener against the Lions, and coach Mike Tomlin would only say he would “be out a number of weeks.”
Gradkowski had ceded the backup job to Landry Jones, and this would be the second straight year he’s missed with injuries if they put him on IR. He missed all of last season with shoulder, hand and finger injuries. He re-signed this offseason to a one-year deal.
Of course, if the Steelers are looking for someone they know, they could always call Michael Vick, who continues to remind people he’s available. Vick started three games for the Steelers last year, though that might have convinced them to not re-sign him.
