The Lions are finally ready to get linebacker DeAndre Levy back on the field.
Levy, whose hip injury represented one of the biggest setbacks in the Lions’ disappointing 2015 season, has been activated off the non-football injury list. Although the team will likely take it slowly with him for the rest of the preseason, he should be good to go for Week One.
After a very good 2014 season, the Lions signed Levy to a four-year, $33.8 million contract last season. But while Levy collected $13 million from the team in 2015, he missed the first four games with a hip injury, re-aggravated the injury in Week Five and didn’t play again.
If the Lions have a healthy Levy again in 2016, that will go a long way toward getting their defense back in playoff form.
