The Texans have added some veteran depth to their defensive line.

The team announced on Tuesday that they have signed defensive end Alex Carrington to their 90-man roster. Fullback Soma Vainuku was waived/injured to open up the roster spot.

Carrington entered the league as a third-round pick of the Bills in 2010 and spent the first four years of his career in Buffalo before moving on to the Rams in 2014. He wound up back in Buffalo last season and saw action in seven games while making one start. He ended the season on injured reserve after tearing his quad.

The Texans are waiting for defensive end J.J. Watt to get cleared after having back surgery before the start of training camp and Carrington gives them an experienced piece to use until he gets back.
