RG3: I’m committed to sliding, I’ve learned from my mistakes

AP

Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III said after Thursday night’s game that sliding at the end of every run is part of his new approach in Cleveland.

“It’s something that Coach has emphasized to me,” Griffin said. “It’s something I’ve learned over my career just with situations that I’ve been in. I can’t thank everybody who has helped me get to that point where it’s hammered in. I’ve learned my lesson from mistakes in the past.”

Griffin ran the ball three times for 36 yards in addition to completing six of eight passes for 96 yards, with two touchdowns and no turnovers.

“It’s just football. It’s fun,” Griffin said. “I said it last week, just the opportunity to get out there and play with great people and people that you trust and know that everybody has the same goal, and it’s to make this team a consistent winner. It’s just fun to go out there.”

Griffin wants to keep having fun out there, and he can only do that if he can stay healthy.

  1. He also needs to grow up. Celebrating touchdowns passes in the preseason, I mean who does that??

  2. Well he’s gotten rid of his starter wife and starter team. He should be ready to rock.

  3. RG3 will always be RG3’s worst enemy.

He is one of those players that can beat anyone but he has to learn to not beat himself.

He can’t buy into his own hype.

I would too considering that he didn’t play a snap last year.

  6. Def. Progress for rg3. Usually when he mentioned the word “mistake” he was talking about his teamates

Little Danny is not going to like this.

  8. Too many players come to Washington and have too much fun, only to grow up/clean up their act somewhere else–who wouldn’t in the DMV… there’s so much for young n previously sheltered adults to do here… so many beautiful people from all over the world here to interact with….the media here will make sure prominent figures won’t enjoy privacy…just way too many distractions to take away the focus from football…. Washington is Doomed!

Saw this game on NFL TV, this kid can play with good coaching. The beloved Skins, what did you do?

NFLexpert says that he watches the games, but had he watched any of Robert’s first three years, the NFLexpert would be quick to point out that Roberts display of sliding, in the Browns preseason game TRUMPS any attempt of sliding while wearing a redesigns uniform.

Everyone in DC was preaching the slide and ROBERT couldn’t do it. Roberts slides were ugly, and Robert didn’t think that he should slide, ever.

  10. ROFL!

He is a five year pro and he’s now celebrating mastering how to slide?

Maybe in five years he can compile a winning career record. So far his body of work in games that he has started and finished is 12 wins and 21 losses with only 4 wins and 15 losses after his running back thinking he can throw season.

For real, man?! Have you ever been in his situation? I have been. I was red-shirted my first year of College. A whole year practicing with the starters but mostly playing scout/burger squad.
My first play of the first game starting next season of summer ball, I made a hit in the backfield for a loss on 1st down. I was jumping around like I won the game with that hit. It felt really, really good to play again and even better to remember that I could make plays at that level.

It sucks to sit for an entire season. And it feels good when you get back out there and contribute. Let the man celebrate.

Raiders should do it because they sure haven’t celebrated in the regular season in years.

  13. Do you think that Dan Snyder sticks with Jay Gruden if RGIII outplays Captain Kirk?

On October 2nd, Browns at Redskins …. how much of a BOUNTY will there be on RGIII’s knees? Gruden earns about $3-$4 million a year.

  14. Griffin never practiced sliding in Washington. Shanahan said he was surprised that Griffin didn’t know how to slide. What a coach that Shanahan was. Emphasis on was, like decades ago.

  15. Looks like he finally started listening to his coaches instead of being a prima donna. He always has had talent, he just a big head too.
