After Friday night’s game against the Chargers, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said that linebacker Alex Okafor faced a decision between having surgery to repair a torn biceps tendon or playing with the injury.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Okafor has opted for the latter course of action.
Okafor ended last season on the non-football injury list after hurting his toe between the end of the regular season and the playoffs. He played in 13 games during the regular season and recorded two sacks, which was less than he and the team hoped to get after Okafor had eight sacks in the same number of games in 2014.
With Chandler Jones and Markus Golden installed as the starting outside linebackers, Okafor will need to show he can still be productive despite the injury in order to see regular playing time. That would benefit the Cardinals and it would help Okafor set himself up for free agency with his contract expiring at the end of the year.
