The Panthers have built one of the league’s strongest interior defensive lines, primarily by spending draft currency on it.
But they’re still trying to shore up the edges via the waiver wire.
Per the league’s transaction notice, the Panthers claimed defensive end Lavar Edwards off waivers from the Bills.
A fourth-year pro with no career sacks, Edwards has also spent time with the Titans, Cowboys (twice), Raiders, Bears, and Bills.
The Panthers brought veteran end Charles Johnson back for another year, after beating a pay cut out of him which took cutting the fixture. They also have Kony Ealy as a reliable starter on the other side, but have been looking for depth there for a few years.
Wes Horton just tweeted out that he had been released, which would provide the corresponding transaction.
