Patriots honor Tom Brady with giant photo at stadium

When the NFL suspended Saints coach Sean Payton for a full season due to he bounty scandal, the team put a large photo of Payton inside the practice facility with the message “do your job.” With Patriots quarterback Tom Brady starting his four-game #Deflategate suspension on Saturday, the Patriots have put an even larger photo at Gillette Stadium, along the length of the lighthouse.

The “do your job” is implied.

It’s a significant show of support for Brady, and it will be interesting to see whether it remains for the trio of home games that will be played there while Brady is suspended. The slate includes a nationally-televised Thursday night game against the Texans.

The Patriots didn’t consider carrying Brady on the 53-man active roster during his suspension. Although that would have been an even bolder show of support, it also could have undermined the team’s effort to win as many of the four games as possible by giving them one fewer available player each week. As one source with knowledge of the team’s thinking told PFT, Brady would not have wanted that.

It’s unknown whether he wanted to have a gigantic photo of himself on the stadium lighthouse, but he got it.

  1. I’m sorry but honoring a player who was proven to have cheated, lied and embarrassed the NFL, his team and city is just moronic.

No hate, and he’s a very good system qb. But come on with the unwavering misguided support.

  2. Tom Brady is the New England Patriots. His giant photo should have already been on that lighthouse, next to a gold statue of him, and a sign welcoming you to Tom Brady Field at Tom Brady Stadium.

  3. The giant photo of Tom Brady can become a shrine to injustice in the NFL. We must never forget how the Greatest Of All Time was unfairly suspended. Tom will miss the 4 games and come back greater than ever.

  4. Why doesn’t the Deflator get any love on the lighthouse? He’s the real MVP since apparently cheaters are eligible for glorification in New England.

Actually, your post is what is moronic.
It was never proven that Tom Brady lied or cheated and he certainly never embarrassed his team, the city, or even the NFL. The NFL does a good job of embarrassing itslef however.
You call yourself a fan of the game but you blindly follow the lies that the NFL has told you and in so doing belittle perhaps the greatest player of modern times. That makes you a sheep not a football fan. So to you I say Baaaaaaa.

  6. I think it is awesome to have the image of Tom Brady staring down on his teammates, as a reminder of what Gooddell did to him, and the team as a whole.

Never forget, do your job for Tom!

  7. Let’s just remind folks here… there was NO CLEAR EVIDENCE that he has ever cheated. The NFL never produced anything that could be considered a “smoking gun” in their attempt to take down one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. Nor did they ever prove conclusively that the balls that were under the inflation point limit were not affected by the atmospheric conditions of the cold air, rather than illegally deflated by one or more individuals.

This case would’ve been laughed out of court were it presented as an actual litigated matter. All the appeals court managed to do was to reinforce a clause in the contract between the league and the players union which gives the worthless commissioner wide discretionary powers over disciplinary matters, so if anyone is to blame for this, the players union would be the prime culprit… they allowed this to happen. If you look over the record of played discipline over the past few years, you’ll see that it’s starting to affect other teams as well.

  8. I wonder when McNally and Jastremski will have their pictures put up? I guess all they got to receive was losing their jobs and having their lives turned upside-down.

  9. I would have thought a giant photo of Brady already existed at their stadium. Seems a bit late.

  10. It should be a giant picture of Ernie Adams hiding in the shadows on his headset. Now that’s the guy who deserves the credit.

  11. I’m picturing the lighthouse as the middle finger. Eff Goodell. I wish he was dead. Or worse.

  12. Upon taking off my blinders for Johnny Unitas because of personal reasons in knowing the man & a couple of his sons, hearing all the stories about the Golden Arm, Tom Brady is the best QB to ever step on the field in the NFL.

  13. Hey Roger. Come over to my house. I’ll give you a lesson in “integrity” on my front lawn with a baseball bat. If you reply to this post I’ll send you my address.

The only proven lies were the many told by Park Ave – the 11 of 12, the k-ball switching (to cover theft by the NFL), the suspension of the ball guys, the doctoring of the photo of the gauges (to falsely suggest they looked similar), the suggestion that the Pats refused to let Wells talk to the ball guys, the suggestion that Brady destroyed his phone rather than surrender it to Wells (even though Wells didn’t demand it and had no right to it), etc, etc, etc. Let me know if you want me to list all the league’s lies on this case.

Never heard that. Not even once. Fans are proud of the team’s work ethic and striving for excellence.

What, exactly, makes you so sure Brady cheated? Have you actually read the case materials, the Wells report, the scientists’ debunking reports, the briefs? Plenty of proof of multiple lies by the NFL, no proof that Brady lied. For that matter, no proof that the balls were even deflated. Why do you suppose the NFL won’t release those PSI measurements from last year?

For your sake, I hope Goodell, who thinks he GOD-El, never decides to manufacture a case against some player or team you care about. He’s turned Article 46 into an all-purpose bludgeon to help him in whatever scheme he’s up to at the moment, and it might suit him to go after your guys next.

The black mark is not on the Patriots or Brady, it’s on Goodell and the NFL. I’ll bet that most of the owners that were on board with this at the beginning even regret it. The next CBA negotiations should include a non negotiable proviso on the players behalf that Goodell has to be replaced. He’s simply over his head and overmatched. He’s proved it time after time, with an endless comedy of errors. Anyone could make money for the league. Goodell as a commisioner is what Jimmy Carter was to the presidency(and I’m a Liberal).

As for the cowardly Krafts belated show of support….

    —————————————————————–

The NFL performed such a PSI study during the 2015/2016 season. To this day the NFL has not released the PSI information from that study.

The only logical reason that this PSI information is being kept secret is that it disproves the NFL’s conclusion. Essentially this information very likely exonerates The Patriots and Tom Brady.

It’s easier to for the NFL to keep the PSI information secret than to suffer the public humiliation of having to admit that “deflategate” was about nothing.

The 2016 season starts in 5 days. If that PSI information is not released before then it will permanently stain the NFL shield.

    “Do your job”

…and if your nickname is Deflater, get out there and deflate some footballs – it’s your job!
    —————————————————————

It’s a shame that so many individuals became obsessed with the “deflator” red herring which was intended to dupe people while making them focus on nonsense. “Deflator” was a single word used once during the off season. I believe that someone that has a job for 10 years which includes inflating and deflating footballs to get them to comply with league mandated specifications should be allowed to use the word “deflator” for any reason that they want to. Science indicates that the balls were not tampered with. So the part time locker room attendant that worked for 10 years at home games is irrelevant.

It’s a good thing that Jim McNally didn’t have part of his job being spraying the facility for pest extermination and 4 months prior once referred to himself as “terminator”. If this was the case the same dimwits would be calling for Tom Brady to be convicted of knowing about a murder.

Science indicates that the footballs were not tampered with. Everything else is irrelevant.

  53. Someone should test Brady while he’s out to finally bag him on the PED use. It’s already around the stadium the guy who just got busted was just another guy until he started using. Brady was a 6th rounder before he most likely started as well. As far as I’m concerned the Patriots have zero legitimate wins since 2001 and will forever have zero super bowls until someone comes in to clean up the culture of cheating which is about as accepted as the Red Sawx culture of cheating the last 15 years. Hopefully that Lego statue comes with a syringe for big floppy just like they should put a deflated football balloon at the 50 for Shady.

-Justice Chin, United States Courts of Appeal Second Circuit New York.

    —————————————————————-
Just another NY resident that was still believing the false report which claimed that 11 of 12 footballs was 2.0 PSI below 12.50 PSI

Here is an example of an “expert” that came to an incorrect conclusion because they didn’t take 2 minutes to obtain the actual measurements prior to publically stating a false conclusion.

    Yale University in New York
    Published on Jan 28, 2015
“Ainissa Ramirez, physicist and author of Newton’s Football, talks through why weather can’t explain deflate-gate”
Video Title: “THIS IS WHAT PHYSICS SAYS ABOUT DEFLATEGATE | TIME”

The person in this video was still believing the false report claiming that 11 of 12 of the Patriots footballs was 2 PSI below the mandatory 12.50 PSI. This person did not give consideration to the fact that the footballs were wet. It I known that wet footballs can stretch some and increase the volume inside the football. Not taking rain into account and not having the actual PSI measurements is what led to the incorrect conclusion in the above video.

Listening to similar conclusions by “experts” is why many people still believe that the Patriots deflated footballs.

This individual could have avoided making a wrong conclusion if they had the following PSI information which indicates that only one Patriots footballs had a measurement at 10.50 PSI or 2 PSI below 12.5 PSI:

    Patriots football #1 11.50 — 11.80
    Patriots football #2 10.85 — 11.20
    Patriots football #3 11.15 — 11.50
    Patriots football #4 10.70 — 11.00
    Patriots football #5 11.10 — 11.45
    Patriots football #6 11.60 — 11.95
    Patriots football #7 11.85 — 12.30
    Patriots football #8 11.10 — 11.55
    Patriots football #9 10.95 — 11.35
    Patriots football #10 10.50 — 10.90
    Patriots football #11 10.90 — 11.35

    Colts football #1 12.70 — 12.35
    Colts football #2 12.75 — 12.30
    Colts football #3 12.50 — 12.95
    Colts football #4 12.55 — 12.15

You are hilarious . I love it , keep it coming .

  71. That was same place as Ray Lewis countdown to retirement that was supposed to start at Gillette. Lest we forget, the Ravens beat the Patriots on their way to a Super Bowl win. Amazing how many times Jump ball Joe has beaten Brady in Gillette during the playoffs.

  72. Is it annoying that Brady was suspended for suspicion of something that scientifically wasn’t proven to have happened? Yes. But it came down to the NFL deciding that they needed to stop the constant lawsuits regarding suspensions and attacked the best year to year team and one of, if not the best, quarterback. If it was a mediocre player, it would not have made the news, by having it be a very well known player, it makes national news, the results are well known, and it becomes a giant “don’t even waste our time” message sent to players.

Garoppollo gets some starts shows he’s capable of being at least an average quarterback, Patriots trade him after the suspension is up to a team that needs a quarterback, potentially for a first round pick. They turn that first round pick into 2 second rounders, maybe a third rounder as well, and they resupply their team. Patriots continue winning. The only concern would be when Brady retires and they actually have to pay full price for a quarterback (unless they continuously keep QBs until their rookie contracts are up).

  73. One of the best qb’s there is. but, he’s a cheater. all these over-analyzers trying to dissect all the 2,000 pages of data are in denial. one piece of data is all it takes, he was bff’s with the ball boys and texting them and the ball boys went in the bathroom to deflate balls. he knew all about it, he’s a control freak who knew and instructed those ball boys to get the inflation right where he wanted. the ball boys knew their heads were on a platter if they didn’t do what he wanted. been going on for years.

    —————————————————————–

Because the NFL never cared about the PSI in footballs. They admitted that they didn’t know about the ideal gas law. Now the NFL is hiding the PSI information collected during the 2015 season because it shows that footballs always deflate when they get cold. And even more if they are also wet.

The NFL didn’t look at football pressures until Brady called out the Ravens coach for not knowing the rule book.

  88. To this day the NFL and ESPN has protected the accusers and denied Brady the right to face them. Being cowards, none of them outed themselves.

A question for those who still think he didn’t cheat and that the deflated footballs were effected by the weather:
Then why wasn’t this ever an issue before?
    ————————————–

    Good question.

First of all, the rule stating that footballs must be inflated to between 12.5-13.5PSI isn’t based upon anything other than what Wilson puts on the football and on the box.

Despite all of the NFL’s bluster, there is absolutely zero empirical evidence that shows that any inflation level of a football offers any team a competitive advantage.

In fact, prior to the 2015 AFC Championship Game, there was zero empirical evidence as to what happen to the air pressure inside of a football during the normal course of a game.

So, with a complete lack of knowledge about the the dynamics of the air pressure inside of a football during the course of a game, and that temperature has an effect on the air pressure of objects filled with air, how was it possible for the NFL to determine that the footballs were deflated?

We already know that the referees actually added extra air to properly inflated footballs at halftime, because the readings at the end of the game were higher than they should have been.

We also know that the NFL did not demonstrate in the slightest that the footballs had had any air let out of them.

Now, going back to last season, when the NFL claimed they were going to make random PSI checks, and then reveal the results, well, we have yet to see the results. We do know that the footballs were switched out at halftime of the super cold Vikings playoff game. Why would they do that?

As for why it was never an issue, it’s because the NFL never cared what the air pressure of the footballs was. The referees didn’t sit around before each game and methodically air up the footballs to exact air pressures. More often than not, they just gave them a squeeze and called them good.

That’s what made psigate such a complete fraud.

Sorry bigbear, but over his career, my team, Denver, has owned Prince Tom. How did last year taste? Tick tock.

    ——–

It tasted fine. The Patriots just won the Super Bowl the year before. Denver the one hit wonder won’t be around to bother the Patriots for another 10 years now.

  124. If spygate and deflategate have proven anything, it’s that most NFL fans are bottom-feeding scum without an honest bone in their body. Most of them will burn.

  125. Tom’s The Man. He generally starts the season slow. I hope that doesn’t happen, but 4-5 weeks of no game activity is enough to slow any player down. The team in general hasn;t played well in Cleveland in the past. They’ve got the Bengals in his second game back, and travel to Pittsburgh in his third, and host Seattle in his 5th game back. He also has to play 7 or 12 games on the road. Here’s to hoping he walks on the field in Cleveland and drops dimes from the get-go.

  127. The greatest decade of my life is based on the accomplishments of others. Wow.

That is true for a lot of Patriot fans, which is why they can’t rationally deal with the fact that Brady cheated.

  128. I can’t read all 176 comments, and I don’t have to when the 1st one calls Tom Brady a “very good system qb”.

Good stuff there. One of the best QBs of all time is a product of the system.

  129. I guess the only problem I ultimately have, if I’m looking objectively, is football is the ultimate team game. When Tom Brady doesn’t have his offensive line protecting him, he gets beleaguered and on the ground as the Broncos proved in the last AFC championship game. Yes, Brady did almost engineer a great comeback in that game but ultimately he failed. He fails against the Seahawks if Pete Carroll doesn’t go brain dead. So many things go into it. Are they the New England Tom Brady’s now?

Yeah, 100+ Years of Proven Science isn’t rational.

Denying 100+ Years of Proven Science is. Riiiiight…

Who deflated the Colts’ balls? CRICKETS!

It’s true. There’s one piece of evidence in the Wells Report that is all it takes.

After the Jets game at Foxboro on Octobe 16, 2014, John Jastremski sent the following text to his fiance: “I just measured some of the balls. They supposed to be 13 lbs… They were like 16. Felt like bricks.”

    ———
This is what changed my mind and convinced me Tom was innocent

He told the Patriots’ equipment staff that he wanted the footballs inflated at the lowest permissible level; he reviewed a highlighted copy of the provision of the Playing Rules that addressed inflation of footballs; and he instructed the equipment staff to present a copy of the rule to the game officials. On the day of the AFC Championship Game, Mr. McNally told referee Walt Anderson that Mr. Brady wanted the balls inflated to a pressure of 12.5 psi. He told the investigators that “Tom … always has me pass a message to the Official’s [sic] that he likes the balls at the minimum permissible PSI of 12.5. … I know this is what Tom wants, and I have been personally told by him of the ball weight preference.”

Seems pretty clear Brady wanted the balls at 12.5.

  133. I guess the only problem I ultimately have, if I’m looking objectively, is football is the ultimate team game. When Tom Brady doesn’t have his offensive line protecting him, he gets beleaguered and on the ground as the Broncos proved in the last AFC championship game. Looks like you seem to think they are…at least judging by the second half of your post. 🙂

Football is a team game or it’s all on the QB. It can’t be one when they win and the other when they lose.

    🙂

  134. Bigbear, you do realize that there is no such thing as the science of Walt Anderson’s Recollection. That is the total basis of the Pats arguement. They based their whole science cases on his recollection. Not on science facts, but a human’s recollction. So the Pats arguement is that they have proved beyond a reasonable doubt that it is impossible for Walt Anderson to be mistaken. That is all you got. The Pats have took cheating to levels that have never been seen before. I have no doubt that it continues. You are correct, the Pats and Brady have dominated in cheating and have four Superbowl Titles to prove it.

  135. Sports, problem with your post. Jim totally denies he said this. He told Wells that he never told NFL security that. Tom totally denies that he knew Jim, other than his face and he worked in the equipment room. Brady has done everything in his power to take away from the fact that the balls were measured at 12.5 or 12.6 for the start of the game. In his testimony, he never comes out and says what his preference was. He tried very hard to say that he could not tell if a ball was under inflated or over inflated. He knows that his goose is cooked with the 12.5 measurements. Remember, the conclusion in the Wells Report is that the Patriots balls were not at their original starting weights when they were measured at half time.

    …..

Which also happened to the Colts balls. And some of the Pats balls postgame where found to be illegally overinflated, but no sanctions against the refs who pumped them at the half. And the Colts admitted to tampering the Pats balls by sticking a needle into the intercepted ball and no sanctions against them… what in the world is your poi….oh, nevermind.

  137. Goodell is messing up the competition of the league for the 2016 season by affecting which teams make the playoffs and how teams are seeded as Goodell makes Brady to miss 25% of the 2016 season. Four teams get to play against a backup QB and 12 teams will have to face a rested Tom Brady.

That’s an unfair advantage for the 4 teams when it comes to the standings and the things that will affect playoff seeding and which teams are awarded home field advantage.

All while the NFL keeps the PSI information that was collected during the 2015 secret because it shows that that footballs always lose PSI when moved from warm to cold.

Just one of the many videos that can be found online that proves that Roger Goodell and the NFL are making a mistake by forcing Tom Brady to miss 25% of the 2016 season:
You can watch video on the popular online video site. Just search for “DEFLATE GATE & WHY SCIENCE SAYS THE PATRIOTS DID NOT TAMPER WITH FOOTBALLS”

The reason the NFL hasn’t released the PSI information from the 2015 season is because it shows the same thing that you saw with your own eyes in that video. The same things that numerous scientists have stated, including Roderick MacKinnon, who won a Nobel Prize in chemistry.

I dont think so but if true I guesss that’s yet another lie by the side you’re on. Where is your outrage regarding all the lies from your side?

  139. Hey guys, what is with the dead horse sitting in the hallway? Tripped over the bugger and almost broke my concentration on reality.

Thankfully I found myself surrounded by experts to keep me in line…

    Oh but that poor horse.

  140. Gee, Mr. Kraft, a big picture just about makes up for the fact that you threw me under the bus for your billionaire boys’ club buddies.
