Quarterback Josh Johnson’s next stop will be the Giants.
Per his agent, Johnson will sign with the Giants Monday. He was released by the Ravens on Saturday.
ESPN reported that the Giants will release linebacker Jasper Brinkley to make room on the roster for Johnson.
Johnson had a strong preseason and got plenty of work with the Ravens mostly keeping Joe Flacco on the sideline. The Ravens chose to keep Ryan Mallett as Flacco’s backup.
Johnson, 30, has previously spent time with the Buccaneers, 49ers, Browns, Jets, Colts, Bengals and Bills. A fifth-round pick of the Bucs in 2008, he last played in a regular season game in 2013.
The Giants are adding an insurance policy at quarterback with backup Ryan Nassib entering the final year of his rookie contract. Johnson can also simulate some of the mobile quarterbacks the Giants will face this season while running the scout team.
