Germain Ifedi suffers ankle injury in practice

Seahawks rookie offensive lineman Germain Ifedi left Wednesday’s practice after suffering an ankle injury.

The Seahawks listed Ifedi as a limited practice participant on their participation and injury report Wednesday. No further update was made available.

Ifedi, the team’s first-round pick last April, is the listed starter at right guard. He started all four preseason games there.

The Seahawks moved ex-guard Justin Britt to center in the offseason and don’t want to have to do too much shuffling again if the ankle injury keeps Ifedi out of Sunday’s opener vs. the Dolphins. Rees Odhiambo is behind Ifedi on the unofficial depth chart, and J’Marcus Webb would also be an option.

  1. Not a Seahawks fan but has any team been more consistently vexed by OL injuries over the last 5 years?

And no, J’Marcus Webb is not an option. He really really isn’t.

  2. SEA already had the worst offensive line in the NFL ranked 32nd by Pro Football Focus , starting ex AZ 3rd string OT Bradley Sowell at LT n Sowell has no business in the NFL , This is a guy who will give up easily 3-4 sacks per game and easily by far and away ranked last in the NFL 76th of 76 OTs ranked last time he started in 2013 giving up 14 sacks in 12 starts despite having a TE or RB glued to his hip at all times to chip. Now they lose Ifedi n have to start another one of the NFLs worst linemen in J. Webb !!!!! Wilson is going to get decapitated this season.

  3. Folks, Vegas lists the Sea Hogs as one of the early favorites to win SB 51. Those preseason “power rankings” have the Sea Hogs near the top. Run, not walk, to bet your mortgage on this team to win the SB next February. LOL
