The Rams have added some more depth to their secondary.

The team announced Thursday that they have signed former Chargers cornerback Steve Williams to their 53-man roster. Williams made the Chargers’ initial 53-man roster, but was waived last Sunday when they claimed three players off of waivers from other clubs.

Williams was a fifth-round pick in 2013 and missed his rookie season with a torn pectoral muscle. He returned to play 26 games for San Diego over the last two seasons, starting twice and recording 29 tackles, two interceptions and a sack.

The Rams had four cornerbacks on the roster before adding Williams, so it was a spot where they were a little short heading into Monday night’s opener against the 49ers.

Linebacker Nicholas Grigsby was waived to open the spot for Williams.
