Josh Brown back on Giants active roster

Giants kicker Josh Brown is back on the active roster.

Brown drew a one-game suspension from the league as a result of a 2015 domestic violence arrest. That suspension raised renewed questions about the league’s handling of domestic violence cases as the league deviated from its stated six-game suspension baseline for such offenses.

Brown was also cited for violating a protective order granted to his ex-wife and the Giants came up for criticism as well for re-signing Brown with knowledge of his arrest despite coach Ben McAdoo’s promise of zero tolerance for domestic violence when he got the job earlier this year.

Brown was reinstated on Monday with linebacker J.T. Thomas going on injured reserve after hurting his knee while covering a kick against the Cowboys. Randy Bullock, who missed an extra point in the 20-19 win remains on the roster as well.

  1. If she had a protective order against Josh Brown this is effectively and legally more-significant than the Ray Rice situation.

McAdoof, Mara, Supreme Chancellor Goodell… it’s weaksauce lip service, just like concussion “protocols”.

That doesn’t mean he isn’t a pile of excrement for other reasons but the omission of that simple fact from the article speaks volumes about what the author wants you to think about that particular chapter of the story. There’s far too much of it that isn’t known, no team would go out on the PR limb for a kicker if there weren’t some mitigating circumstances.

  3. Bullock isn’t on the team. You really think they were going to keep two kickers; one of whom can’t make an extra point?
