DeAndre Levy fined $9,115 for taunting

Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy is unlikely to play against the Titans this week after drawing a doubtful tag on the week’s final injury report, which means he’s unlikely to pick up his second fine in as many weeks.

PFT has confirmed that Levy has been fined $9,115 by the league after being penalized for taunting in the fourth quarter of last Sunday’s 39-35 victory over the Colts.

Levy was penalized after a third-and-one that saw Colts quarterback Andrew Luck throw incomplete. Levy took Luck down at the end of the play, leading to jawing with members of the Colts and a flag that Levy lamented after the game.

“It was just a dumb play,” Levy said, via the Detroit Free Press. “It was a dumb play. Heat of the moment. Guys are running to the sideline grabbing and talking noise. It’s whatever. It’s a dumb play. I got to be smarter.”

Assuming Levy misses this Sunday’s game, he’ll have his next chance to be smarter in Green Bay in Week Three.

  1. I would like to see PFT start a player fine log and add the fines so we can watch the total the amount grows. Kinda like the national debt clock. Hopefully it won’t move that fast or that high, but with Rog and the other keystone cops at 345 Park Ave, I would not bet against it.

  2. I’m not sure which is worse. The NFL’s stupid rules about taunting & celebrating, or the widespread moronic players who can’t act like reasonable athletes who have a scintilla of self-awareness.

  3. Yes it was dumb of him to lose his cool, but in the heat of a game with guys coming at him on the sideline he didn’t push anybody or hit anybody. He walked away and when someone said something else he turned around and made the “come at me” gesture. This is what the NFL is turning into? Why don’t they just wear suits and carry tea around on the field apologizing to each other. I bet that would appease Roger.

  4. Well, one things for sure. He’ll have plenty of time to think about it while he’s sidelined with his Quad injury. Is it just me or does it seem that when players sign for big money or extensions they get snake bit and get hurt?

No it’s just you and another excuse you use (along with your 20 names you created on here) in an attempt to hide the shame and embarrassment of having one playoff win in 60 years.
