The word early on Tuesday was that Redskins center Kory Lichtensteiger might be headed to injured reserve due to a calf injury that coach Jay Gruden initially called “moderate” and that’s exactly what’s come to pass later in the day.

Lichtensteiger has been placed on injured reserve and the Redskins have announced the signing of former Vikings center John Sullivan. Sullivan worked out for the team earlier in the day.

Sullivan was a six-year starter for the Vikings before missing all of last season with a back injury. He will join Spencer Long as options for the Redskins with Lichtensteiger out of the lineup. The team will also be waiting to see if left guard Shawn Lauvao will be able to play after he hurt his ankle in the victory over the Giants.

The Redskins also officially placed safety DeAngelo Hall on injured reserve Tuesday because of a torn ACL. Defensive lineman Vinston Painter was signed off the practice squad to fill the open roster spot.

  1. Upgrade and allows Long to return to G. D-line needs to pick it up though to get anywhere. Should have went D instead of Doctson who was not needed regardless of contract years coming.

  2. Wish Sully all the best, but he was pushed around like a little girl by D-linemen all pre-season. It says a lot if a player can’t make the crappy O-line on my team.

  3. No better man, team mate and leader.
A man of high morals. Probably the most intelligent center in the NFL.
    Great at the run block.
With a healthy back should make Jones and Thompson happy.

  4. Waste of money. Watch he will fail badly. He’s just not good anymore sorry to say. Bikes knew it too and refused to bring him back even with Boone injury.

  5. Smart. Always a bit light and this year even lighter to ease up the stress on the back. Great guy. Will give it all he has. Did I say he was smart. I hope he is smart enough to stay on the ground if his back is hurting him again and not tough it out. Would hate to see him seriously hurt or paralyzed. He was getting pushed around a lot in camp. Just really had a hard time planting the feet and holding any sort of bull rush. Wish him the best except for when the VIKES play him, if he lasts that long. A REALLY CLASS ACT GUY THOUGH.

  6. Come on fellow Vikings fans, why are you bashing Sully finding work? I say good for him, I hope he flourishes with his new team.
