Week Four Power Rankings

AP

1. Broncos (3-0; last week No. 1): Maybe they shouldn’t have drafted Paxton Lynch, after all.

2. Patriots (3-0; No. 2): Maybe they should have drafted Paxton Lynch (if they’d had a first-round pick).

3. Vikings (3-0; No. 6): Defense and coaching are great, offense is good enough. But here’s hoping they don’t need a field goal in the playoffs. Or an extra point.

4. Panthers (1-2; No. 3): Sure, no team with a losing record has ever landed this high. But no elite team has faced defenses like Denver’s and Minnesota’s in the first three games of a season.

5. Packers (2-1; No. 8): The offense is fixed. As long as they play the Lions every week.

6. Eagles (3-0; No. 19): That “they haven’t beaten anybody” excuse went out the window on Sunday.

7. Ravens (3-0; No. 11): Winning ugly is always better than losing pretty.

8. Seahawks (2-1; No. 9): With a return to the place where they won a Super Bowl looming, they finally are looking like the team that did.

9. Steelers (2-1; No. 4): The fact that it has been 27 years since the last 31-point loss won’t make Steelers fans feel much better about Sunday’s debacle.

10. Texans (2-1; No. 7):  The good news? The Patriots didn’t score 40 against the Texans this time. The bad news? The Patriots only needed three to win.

11. Chiefs (2-1; No. 12): If they can avoid another slow start, a strong finish could get them a division title and a bye.

12. Cowboys (2-1; No. 14): Once they put Humpty Dumpty back together again and he falls off the wall (again), things won’t may not be as dire.

13. Falcons (2-1; No. 16): Kyle Shanahan may end up being a head coach, after all.

14. Giants (2-1; No. 13): The kicking net was one unsportsmanlike conduct foul away from being ejected.

15. Raiders (2-1; No. 17): The defense showed up in Nashville, even though the offense almost didn’t.

16. Cardinals (1-2; No. 5): Jake Delhomme says, “Wow, that playoff meltdown has really affected Carson Palmer.”

17. Bengals (1-2; No. 10): It’s impossible to lose in the playoffs for the sixth straight year if you don’t qualify.

18. Jets (1-2; No. 15): The Jets had a come-to-Jesus meeting on Monday. On Sunday against Seattle, their fans could be telling the team to go to hell.

19. Rams (2-1; No. 26): Given Jeff Fisher’s mastery of the Buccaneers, maybe his next job should be in the NFC South.

20. Dolphins (1-2; No. 20): The standings should have a separate category for beating the Browns in overtime, because it doesn’t feel like a win.

21. Buccaneers (1-2; No. 18): The first walk-and-chew-gum test for head coach/playcaller Dirk Koetter didn’t go very well.

22. Titans (1-2; No. 21): There’s a fine line between 3-0 and 1-2, and the Titans are on the wrong side of it.

23. Colts (1-2; No. 25): Win notwithstanding, Andrew Luck is still closer to Archie than Peyton on the Manning scale.

24. Washington (1-2; No. 29): The 2015 version of the team returned, thanks to a cameo appearance from the 2015 version of the Giants.

25. Bills (1-2; No. 31): LeSean McCoy’s hard-charging runs made it clear that he was very happy about the change in coordinators.

26. 49ers (1-2; No. 22): The 49ers are unstoppable, when they have seven months to get ready for a game.

27. Lions (1-2; No. 23): No one expected them to win in Green Bay for a second straight year, but that doesn’t make “1-2” look any better.

28. Chargers (1-2; No. 27): Another week, another season-ending injury to a key player.

29. Saints (0-3; No. 24): If 2017 free agency were to begin right now, the Saints possibly would have a chance to turn things around.

30. Jaguars (0-3; No. 28): “Here are the Jaguars, London. Much earlier than usual. Before they have a really, really bad record.”

31. Browns (0-3; No. 32): Maybe Terrelle Pryor should kick field goals, too.

32. Bears (0-3; No. 30): The Bears aren’t who we thought they were. They’re worse.

  1. I think everyone in the NFC East can agree the Eagles are a major fluke and the only thing I’m waiting for is to see the incoming implosion of the team. That’s what Philadelphia specializes in. Choking and choking in a spectacular, memorable way. The Redskins are far and away the best team in the division and it’s not even close.

  2. 3. Vikings (3-0; No. 6): Defense and coaching are great, offense is good enough. But here’s hoping they don’t need a field goal in the playoffs. Or an extra point.

Truer words have never been typed.

  3. Not sure where my schizophrenic Packers belong. I think they’re firmly positioned somewhere between 5 and 15. Looking forward to finding out the truth. Go Pack.

thanks for that laugh, i nearly spit out my coffee.

entertaining stuff. good job by you.

  5. Bronco’s SHOULD be the number one team. Undefeated and reigning champs. I am not a fan of theirs specifically but I am a reasonable fan of the NFL.

  6. Panthers may be scuffling, but there is no denying anymore that Cam Newton is the heir to the Clinton Portis Funny Hat throne that I know we have all sought for so long. As honorary chair of the Southeast Jerome Memorial Society, I hereby welcome Cam to this time honored position, and long and hilariously may he reign.

  7. The Packers 5? That’s rich. This is a team that struggled with the Jaguars and Lions. And was beaten by a team with a QB that was only around for about 2 weeks. I wouldn’t call one half of good football on offense “fixed”. Look like an 8-8 team if they’re difficulty of schedule was average.

  8. logicalvoicesays – I would have agreed with you three weeks ago about the Redskins being probable division winners. However, upon further review I’m writing my apology letter to Howie and Doug for doubting them.

  9. I don’t think it would hurt Bronco fans’ feelings to have a poor man’s Brees/Phillip Rivers situation. Elway has proven to be an effective drafter so it’s more probable than not that they will make good use of a high draft pick so they can continue with their sustained success.

  10. Not that I care, because the Vikings handled them Week 2, but the Packers at 5? Seriously? Take off your green and gold glasses, already. They beat two bottom 5 teams, and narrowly escaped defeat in both games. No way they are better than two other undefeated teams…

  11. ok, so the steelers get caught in a trap game on the road. do you people even understand football?

Philly looks like a decent team but they aren’t a top 10 team. let see how they fare against some division competition that is looking to knock them down a few pegs. Especially now that they will be losing their tackle for the rest of the season and Peters wont hold up at his age.

  12. Fly Eagles Fly!! And wow, those Redskins suck . They prove it, week in, week out. Once again where they belong, locked in the cellar

  13. 2. Patriots (3-0; No. 2): Maybe they should have drafted Paxton Lynch (if they’d had a first-round pick).
    ——–
Why? Their QB situation seems more than fine.

  14. Love the Ravens and love that they’re 3-0, but number 7 seems a little high. Objectively speaking, a large part of why they are undefeated has to do with how awful the teams they have played are.

  15. Fins should be the bottom of the 1-2 teams. OT to beat Cleveland? That does not deserve anything but one spot up from the Browns.
The Bills(1-2) beat the Cards (1-2), so how are Cards 9 places higher?
These rankings give new meaning to the term subjective.

  16. As I life long Bears fan I completely disagree with your idiotic power ranking of my beloved Bears. They should be ranked at # 42. Surely there’s at least that many college and high school teams that are better at this point.

  17. per always, these ranking are bizarre. I especially like the Bengals drop of 7 spots by losing to the very defense you used to justify the Panthers number 4 spot. Weeeeirrrd.

  18. I’m not buying the Broncos. They beat teams that were ranked based on last season’s performance but they haven’t shown anything this season. The Panthers are struggling and the Bengals lost to a team that was embarrassed by a rookie QB a week later. The Patriots are playing great defense and I see them pitching a shutout when they play the Broncos.

  19. I’d love to read a justification how the Dolphins are at 20 for beating the Browns, but Buffalo is 25 for beating Super Bowl favorite Cardinals.

We get it, you don’t like Rex, he must have badmouthed you.

    Your Colts hatred is showing.

    —-
No hate, the Dolts are just trash. 🙂

  21. I wonder what the Patriots are really doing to win these games. We know they aren’t playing by the rules. (or bending the rules that aren’t written yet.)

It does show that Brady is a product of a great system. (whether the system is cheating or not, it’s still great at winning)

  22. Vikings are spot on at #3 until Denver or NE drops the ball.

Carolina may be too high, or maybe the two toughest defenses in the league deserve the credit for stuffing Cam that SOME are giving them. Probably a better fit behind the Eagles for now though.

Packers shouldn’t even be in the top 10. They played well in 1 out of 6 halves and would be 0-3 had they played 2 competent teams in their wins.

Teams ranked 8-12 need a solidifying win to replace the Ravens, Packers and, pending Cam’s response in week 4, the Panthers.

  23. In the SB Denver showed the blueprint to take down Camilla. It’s gonna be a long year superman. I suggest more practice at football and less time trying to start horrible fashion trends.

  24. This analysis is far too generous to the Bears. Somehow, there needs to be a way to rank them even lower:

    32. Denver Practice Squad (featuring only 10 players).

    33. Players on Injured Reserve for Seattle.

    34. Players NY Jets Bringing in For Tryouts This Week.

    35. Chicago Bears, on their best day.

  25. I bet it really hurt you to have to put the Eagles that high.

Hey, how does it feel to be 0-3 when picking Eagles games? You and MDS both. Picked against the Eagles every time and were wrong. At least you can’t be wrong this upcoming week, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see you say they’ll lose to the bye week.

    ————————–

Hahaha, what will the excuse be when they play again in two weeks? They’re going to be just fine against this sorry division. I’ll say 4-2 against the East.

  27. Spot on with #32 and I regretfully say that as a Bears fan. There is nothing that team is doing well. Unless you count lame cliches in post-game press conferences and getting injured. They’re really good at that.

  28. howsaboutit says:

Again obsessed Viking fans (who’s team is ranked ahead of the Packers) talks more about the Packers than their own team. Funny stuff.

Well, the Vikings are appropriately ranked (finally) as a top 3 team. There’s nothing to say about it. Meanwhile, the Packers are still about 7-10 spots too high. There’s a lot to point out about how overrated they are, how poorly they’ve played and how they’re one of the worst coached/managed teams in all of football.

ok, so the steelers get caught in a trap game on the road. do you people even understand football?

    =======

    A) the notion of a trap game has nothing to do with football. you’re talking about psychology, right?

    2) in your educated football world, “trap game” explains the entirety of a 31 point loss. do i have that right?

  30. No way Carolina should be #4. Facing Denver and Minnesota defenses is no excuse. They’re supposed to have an elite defense of their own coupled with the reigning (cough) MVP and top offense. Your ranking this tesm based on last year’s performance which was against a weak schedule. Rank this team based on this year’s performance as a team. They have a horrible offensive line, marginal special teams and kicker, and a streaky QB. Maybe top 10 (like #10), but not top 5.

  31. If the Eagles win just 5 more games they may win this crappy division, 6 if things break right for the other teams. Rookie HC, rookie QB and still needing depth is a tough hill to climb for 13 more weeks. Thank goodness this division stinks.

  32. No doubt Denver and New England are the class of the NFL right now. The top-rated NFC team is the Vikings, and they’ve already beaten the second- and third-ranked NFC teams. Sounds like a serious Super Bowl contender. I wonder what the you-can’t-make-it-up moment will be that keeps them out of the Super Bowl? I have a feeling it will involve Blair Walsh.

  33. Plus, trashing the Packers is fun when you’ve called their inevitable decline and the Vikings rise for 2 years and they still can’t admit it even as it clearly unfolds.

  34. ‘Once they put Humpty Dumpty back together again and he falls off the wall (again), things won’t may not be as dire.’

Ummm…what? This doesn’t really make sense.

  35. Packers have played two good quarters out of 12 and are at 5? SMH. Denver and Pats great teams, but think the Vikings D makes them look average too. No one wants to face the Zim Reaper.

Zimmer is going to give Belichick all he can handle in the race for coach of the year.

    ————

Zimmer can focus on that. BB only cares about winning another SB.

  37. What????? The Vikings aren’t No. 1????? Has anybody told the Viking fans? Stand back when you do.

  38. Packers way too high, as usual. Their Defense is trash and don’t give me the “they were injured”. Sam Bradford carved them up and he barely has an offensive line.

    ———————————————————
As long as Goodell continues to find new and false ways to screw the Patriots out of their starting QB for a quarter of the season and stealing draft choices. Anyone outside of the Denver fan base can see the field considerably tilted to the Broncos side what with officials in their pockets making critical calls to the Broncos benefit and the conscious effort of the league owners to hamstring the Patriots who truly have the greatest run of sustained success in the salary cap era which is now 22 years old. The Patriots have participated in over 25% of the Super Bowls and 50% 0f the conference championship games. Instead of embracing and emulating, opponents have chosen to blatantly collude to bring the Patriots down by nefarious means.

  41. 1. Broncos (3-0; last week No. 1): Maybe they shouldn’t have drafted Paxton Lynch, after all.

You have a 7th rounder and 1st rounder. Between the two of them you hope to get a franchise QB. Usually it comes from the 1st rounder, but you can’t know beforehand.

  42. Week 8 tells you who the serious SuperBowl contenders will be. Until then, its only about jersey sales.

A lot of Viking jerseys being sold lately, to no one’s surprise.

  43. The Patriots go 3-0 starting a third string quartback, and you have the Bronco’s rated HIGHER???

  44. Eagles have only let up 20 points in 3 games. Wentz isn’t the only reason the team is rolling. But he’s a big reason

  45. 20. Dolphins (1-2; No. 20): The standings should have a separate category for beating the Browns in overtime, because it doesn’t feel like a win.

    7. Ravens (3-0; No. 11): Winning ugly is always better than losing pretty.

    Unless it isn’t.

  46. Vikings fans are funny. They finally get a decent coach. The coach is building a team around defense. He is doing a good job, but remember how quickly the worm can turn. It is early, don’t go buying your super bowl champs gear just yet. Going 3-0 to start the season is kind of like going undefeated in the preseason. It doesn’t mean a lot Until teams settle in when October ends. That is when we will know if the Vikings are as good as they have looked so far.

Denver has balance on offense and the best defense you’ll see this year. I’m afraid this year will end like last year for you.

  50. Hmm… according to viking fans, the Packers are ranked anywhere from 6 to 27 spots too high. How is it then, that the lowly Packers nearly beat the mighty vikings, at home? If the vikings are as awesome as their delusional fan base thinks they are, and the Packers are as bad as they’re telling us they are – why didn’t they run them out of that shiny new stadium? The Packers were one bad pass / one dumb coaching decision away from winning that game.

  69. I feel bad for the Browns. 2 of their losses are against 3-0 teams and the other loss should have been a win if Parkey could have actually made a FG.

  70. You got about 19 of them right. The only real gaffe’s are Panthers & Eagles. Both are too high.

  71. I am a Packers fan. The Packers are easily a top 5 team until you take coaching into consideration. After that, maybe around 10-15. For sure the Eagles should be ahead of them, they beat down a good team. Green Bay has barely beaten two bad teams and barely lost to a so-so team.

I agree. The Broncos are the champs. They are undefeated and their offense is better than last season. The Pats have a hard time beating the Broncos in Denver……it’s a tall order. These two teams are by far the best teams in the AFC.

  73. Hahaha Redskins fans are delusional. This coming from a 1-2 team that’s paying an Avg QB 20 million this season and has a guy by the name of Norman smiling after a game that he got abused in and won a game that should of been lost if it wasn’t for penalties. If anyone is a choke artist in the NFC east its the deadskins Sir…..

  74. Still haven’t seen Wentz play an actual defense yet.. The Steelers have a pass rush and secondary worse than Dallas, so they don’t count. He still looks great though.

Defensively, the Iggles may be legit.

  75. you have to forgive the Eagle and Viking’s fans here… when it comes to they’re teams having a single digit ranking, it is new territory for most of them.

  76. Panthers at # 4…right now today??? you have to be including last years team when they had one of the softest schedule in the NFL….time will tell, but overall the NFC is weak this year.

  77. “4. Panthers (1-2; No. 3): Sure, no team with a losing record has ever landed this high. But no elite team has faced defenses like Denver’s and Minnesota’s in the first three games of a season.”

If a team’s achilles heel is having to face a top tier defense, then yes they can still be good, but don’t think they can be considered Top 5 by anyone

  78. A few people said it before the season started when many were crowning Arizona the off season champs not to ignore what we did see from Carson Palmer in both his playoff games.

The Packers had him beat and a lucky INT turned TD saved him at the end. It was a complete meltdown when the pressure got turned up. Palmer is turning turner 37 this year. Matt Schaub was 33 when the wheels fell off…Anyone think Bruce Arians will go dink and dunk?

  79. Vikings are quietly becoming the team nobody wants to play.
Cant give Zimmer and Spielman enough credit.
A few weeks ago I was ready for a 6-10 season.

  82. All of the negative talk about the Redskins being a dumpster fire and not beating a team with a winning record

Please be advised that this season is still young and note the fact that the Redskins took down one of the NFLs undefeated!

  83. Some measured remarks by Pats fans (kudos) along with some that are a little unhinged. Let me lay it out clearly for you in case you’re curious why Denver is #1:

Broncos beat the Pats twice last year on their way to the Super Bowl title. By most accounts, the same defense that suffocated Brady and Co. is intact and if anything their offense is better. Denver should be #1 in principle, never mind the fact they’ll probably beat New England (for a third straight time) later this season.

  84. “The Jets had a come-to-Jesus meeting on Monday. On Sunday against Seattle, their fans could be telling the team to go to hell.”

Best ranking post thus far!! They all wished for Fitzpatrick, and that’s what they got. he’s a career backup for a reason. Flashes of Brilliance, goes with a preponderance of painful mediocrity. Chokes in the big games.

As always, beware what you wish for. You just might get it!!

Flawed very flawed. Broncos? Ha Patriots***? Stop it. I see no point in this we already won this year, a fitting end to a hall of fame career of Steve Smith to finally hoist a title. Every other fan base is in denial. We own the Denver Ponies and the Pats have never beaten us in a legit playoff game.

    ————–

C’mon man put down the pipe. The Ravens have beaten nobody and will be lucky to even make the playoffs.

  86. I’ll take my Vikes at #3. That means you still doubt them, and you know what happens when you doubt Coach Zim and Purple Reign.

Packers move up 3 spots because they beat the Lions at home with help from the refs? Wow. Not only were they up huge, but they would have lost if Stafford had 2 more mins. Packers suck, keep on stroking their ego’s, it makes it even more fun when they crumble.

  87. I’ve never gone off these NFL power rankings.
And plus there’s a lot of scenarios that can go into a teams performance from week to week.
It’s a match up league, as much as it is a QB driven league. Any team can beat a better team during the season, specially during this early in the season. Some teams play better when November comes around, and other teams play better in September and October.

I believe the Steelers are better than they played against the Eagles.
I believe the Panthers are better than they played against the Vikings
I believe the Seahawks are better than they played against the Rams.
I believe the Cardinals are better than they played against the Bills.

Each week, your team could be beat, either by a good team or a lousy one.
see ya in November when the better teams start to play, and the September teams struggle.

  88. Viking fans still can’t just be happy with their own teams success and performance, they still have to hate on GB.

Jealousy, it’s whats fer dinner. Really embarrassing.

At present I would move the eagles ahead of GB personally, they look really strong. GB deserves a top 10, but they have a lot of work to do still. GB went into coast mode and it almost cost them. They looked tremendous in the first half and they need to keep their foot on the gas.

    Go Pack

    – Let’s be honest, the only stat that matters is a championship.

  89. If the Bears are so bad. Which they are. Why do the networks keep putting them on in prime time tv?…. Why, because they have the Greatest fan base in the world. Truly the Bears are loved all over the world . It’s time that the charter franchise do something radical…. Either sell the damned team, or figure it out.

  90. I get a kick out of all the people who look for excuses for being wrong about a team. The Eagles are 3-0 and have scored the most points in the league and given up the fewest points in the league. But their record has an asterisk next to it because of who they played.

Most people, myself included, had the Eagles at 1-2 at this point and winning only 5 or 6 games all year. It made sense. They had a bad defense last year, unproven new coach and a rookie QB this year. But now that they’re 3-0 and winning convincingly, everyone is trying to come up with excuses to explain why they were so wrong. As if there isn’t a team EVERY year that exceeds expectations (or a team that disappoints).

I wonder how many picked the 1999 Rams to win the Super Bowl after going 4-12 the year before. I’m certainly not saying that the Eagles are going to contend for a Super Bowl this year, but c’mon people! Swallow your pride a little and admit they’ve looked pretty darn impressive so far.
I thought they were going to suck this year. I was wrong. At least I can admit it.

  91. How the horrid Santa Clara York Niners are not last on this list is shocking
    —————–
Clearly you haven’t seen the Bears play this year. And for that you should be very thankful.

  92. Packers way too high, as usual. Their Defense is trash and don’t give me the “they were injured”. Sam Bradford carved them up and he barely has an offensive line.

    _______________________________

Yeah, there were carved up and lost by 3 points. Pack could have won that game, yet Viking trolls are obsessed GB is ranked #5

  93. If the Jaguars stink up the joint in London, Homeland Security should think long and hard about revoking their passports and forcing them to stay in exile.

Hey – that’s how the NFL could add a London franchise! Have a team in exile every year, kind of like how the Premiership works in England.

  94. “Broncos and Panthers are massively overrated.”

Well, as a Pats fan, I would say the Broncos are not overrated. They continue to have a great defense and the change in QBs doesn’t seem to be slowing them down.

    Panthers, on the other hand…

  95. @finchy74
I’m only returning what Ravens fans dished for years. Beating bad teams is one thing. Eking out three wins against the #25, #30 and #31 teams in this ranking by a combined 13 points — and then crowing how you deserve to be near the top of the power ranking — is another.

    @jack
Considering the Bills have had 2 winning seasons in the last 16, I feel safe in concluding the lone win your opponents have amassed has more to do with AZ falling victim to the 3 time zone west-to-east trip than with the Bills being “good”.

Still, you all live in Green Bay, and we all live in Chicago. When it comes down to it, we win.

  101. You really can’t argue against the Vikings being at #3

With the first two games being warm up games the Vikings finally play a real team in Week 3 and win

    8 sacks, 3 INTs, 1 safety, 1 ST TD

Vikings D played lights out and the Offense took off after halftime.

Vikings go 3-0 and are in 1st place in the NFC North

  102. Ravens #7?

They needed a GW field goal to beat the Jaguars, the JAGUARS! They basically needed a GW field goal to beat the Browns. They scored 1 TD against the Bills at home. Did you mean to put a 1, or perhaps a 2 in front of that #7?

  103. Congrats to my Vikings rising in the power rankings–they deserve it after that phenomenal performance in Charlotte.

Fellow Vikings fan, I know you’re excited but let’s try to reel it in a little. We want our team to stay grounded and take things one game at a time so we should do the same. You can bet Zim isn’t talking SB to his guys, he’s talking playing their best against the Giants on Monday.

Wow, sounds like you are already calling it quits on this season by focusing on past success.

The past is nice to look at in history books but doesn’t matter much today.

Ever hear a homeless person be ok with being homeless because 10 years ago he owned a nice 2 story 3 car garage?

I guess that’s all you have to be proud about…the past.

  110. I’ll be back in November, when you’ll see the contenders start to play there best football, and the pretenders fold.
    It happens every year.
I’m not saying the rankings this week are not correct, just saying it’s still hard to rank these teams and how some teams are overachieving and other teams struggling.
its very hard to play at such a high level for the whole season. There are peaks and valleys. You just hope the valley is in September.

Teams that had high expectations this season, have had a bad loss so far this season: Pittsburgh, Carolina, Seattle and Arizona.
Those teams will play better in November.

  111. ATTENTION: Every team in the NFL is a “real” team. Too many posts on here discrediting team’s wins. Unless you’ve actually watched the games, you should’t say things like “yeah…but look who they beat”, “they barely beat that team”, etc. Every team, good or bad, presents it’s own unique challenges. Things like playing down to competition, trap games, bad matchups, etc. They all factor into the outcomes of games. Wins are hard to come by in the NFL. Beating any team should be celebrated….No matter who you play or how close the score is.

  112. It’s great watching people get indignant about “power rankings” after the 3rd game of the season.

  113. nyeagles10 says:

If anyone is a choke artist in the NFC east its the deadskins Sir…..
    —————————————————————
What’s funny is you saying the Redskins are choke artists, lol. Who choked on Sunday? Maybe you should check the scores before you open your mouth. OBJ choked on a kicking net, sir. Norman was smiling because his team got a win. Norman smiling, OBJ crying!

  114. Not sure where my schizophrenic Packers belong. I think they’re firmly positioned somewhere between 5 and 15. Looking forward to finding out the truth. Go Pack.

    ————————————————-

They’re not so schizophrenic when you allow who their head coach is. The only question is is McCarthy going to get outwitted from the beginning of the game, or are the Packers playing a poorer team and they have to wait until half time to get McCarthy figured out. Once it’s viewed through that prism, it all becomes pretty clear.

In short, the Packers have had top five talent for the last several years, but McCarthy is a boat anchor at best. It wouldn’t be so bad if he just got out of the way and let the team go, but he has to get his hands all over the thing and drive it into a wall.

  115. Let the Viking fans have their day in the sun. We all know it’s going to melt down SOMEWHERE along the line, and the later in the season the more excruciating the pain. Given their highly creative ways of collapsing, my money is on they’re distilling an airborne version of The Clap in the locker room that is going to go Defcon 1 just before the Divisional Round.

They’ll have an answer for your team, what’s wrong or right. They give you all kinds of stats that really doesn’t give you the whole story about the game.
    I have a stat.
    The Vikings are 3-0
    Vikings offensive TDs. 3
    PFT power rank. 3
Have not run for 100 yards yet.
In all 3 games, the Vikings offense in the first half, 1 TD.

For all you crybabies who think the Packers can’t win without the refs’ help: Where is your proof?

Or maybe they’re just a better team?

    ———————————————
Proof, Sunday vs Lions, watch the game.

  144. This is my ranking after 3 weeks, just looking at the play on the field so far, not expectations or performance last year.

    1. Eagles
    2. Patriots
    3. Vikings
    4. Broncos
    5. Chiefs
    6. Seahawks
    7. Panthers

    9. Packers
    10. Ravens
    11. Cowboys
    12. Cardinals
    13. Texans
    14. Falcons
    15. Bills
    16. Giants

  145. Pleasantly surprised at my Panthers ranking, although I do agree with the reasoning. Hoping for some serious payback in Georgia this week.

And will someone please beat the Donkeys 100-0? Gawd, I hate that team. The bounty Saints and 1970s Raiders committed fewer acts of evil than this crew.

  146. Panther fan here, we are to high, until we cut down on our penaltys and turnovers. Cam is holding the ball way to long and I think he needs to run more to keep that thought in the defense’s mind.

  147. The Ravens face elite defenses – typically away – every year. The year after our SB win, we had to play Denver away and Houston – both elite defenses.
Last year the Ravens had to fly to the west coast on successive trips. It is the same thing that Oakland faces now. Any Patriot competitor winds up with the hardest schedule. When was the last time the Patriots had a hard schedule?

    Objectively speaking, the Vikings …
    )))))))))))))))))))))
He is still at it even though most here know he is a packer fan. He not a Vikings fan. Please ignore him.

Who cares about these power ratings? They mean nothing.
I only know this — the Packers have more NFL championships than any other team.
    )))))))))))))))))))
packer fans please enter the modern era. Your fan base is the only one to count the “World Championships” from when the NFL had six teams. And was beer league quality. Green Bay isn’t considered Title Town by anyone other than you cult members. In this modern era you have been passed by in SB titles. Now deal with it.

  150. Actually, no one knows whether or not thepftpoet is a nutty Viking fan, a Packer fan, or a fan of some other time who dislikes the Vikings. If fmc651 does not like someone or something someone says regarding the Vikings, they are simply labeled Packer fans. This includes people that are actually Vikings’ fans.
