A report that Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant has missed 20-40 meetings during his tenure with the Cowboys was denied by Bryant himself, who insists that a meeting he missed last week was “the only one I missed.”
So what’s the truth? Reporters asked Cowboys owner Jerry Jones if the reports about Bryant’s missed meetings were incorrect, and Jones’s answer didn’t exactly clear things up.
“On the face of them, yes, I would say they are incorrect, because only God knows how many of his meetings one way or another he has missed,” Jones said.
It’s hard to know what to make of that answer from Jones, but if the Cowboys don’t even know how many meetings Bryant has missed, that doesn’t exactly speak well for the organization. Presumably, a team would want to know whether one of its best, most important and highest-paid players was showing up to work or not. Maybe that’s not the case in Dallas.
Or maybe Jones just doesn’t want to answer, in which case he probably would have been better off not answering at all than going with the “only God knows” response.
