The Ravens opened up a roster spot on Tuesday when they released veteran running back Justin Forsett and some may have thought that they’d use it for tight end Darren Waller as his four-game suspension ended after last Sunday’s loss to the Raiders.
There is a new tight end on the depth chart, but it isn’t Waller. The team promoted Daniel Brown from the practice squad.
Brown played six games for the Ravens as an undrafted rookie last year. He caught six passes for 64 yards and, like Waller, has moved from wide receiver to tight end with Baltimore. Dennis Pitta and Crockett Gilmore have gotten the most snaps at tight end for the Ravens so far this year.
Waller has a roster exemption, so the Ravens can work with 54 players through this week’s game against the Redskins.
