Report: Jason Verrett worried he may have torn ligament in knee

The Chargers have dealt with their share of season-ending injuries already this year with wide receiver Keenan Allen, running back Danny Woodhead and linebacker Manti Te’o all lost until 2017.

Allen and Woodhead both suffered torn ACLs and now another member of the team is reportedly worried that he may have a torn ligament in his knee as well. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that cornerback Jason Verrett fears that’s the case.

Verrett has not missed any time this season, but has been dealing with a knee issue for the last couple of weeks. He’s reportedly going to meet with doctors for an evaluation on Wednesday to determine whether there is a tear anywhere in the knee and if Verrett will be able to continue playing in the coming weeks.

The Chargers dealt with a slew of injuries on their way to a 4-12 record last year. Should Verrett join those other players on the shelf for any extended period of time, the chances of avoiding another dismal record will take a hit.

  1. From a Raiders fan, I hope he’s a full go and it isn’t anything serious. I love competition and, as the great Ric Flair has said “In order to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best!”

While I would NEVER consider the Chargers ‘the best’, I always want our boys to go against THEIR best.

Seriously though, someone needs to take a look at the water down in SD to find an explanation for their horrible rash of injuries over the last few seasons.

  2. Remember when the chargers swept the Raiders something like six or seven years in a row?

I hate to see players go down to injury, in a perfect world each team would have their best players on the field every week.

That being said, I won’t feel bad if the Raiders smoke the chargers for the next seven years in a row.

    Viva Los Raiders
