The NFL said Thursday it is “conducting contingency planning” for Sunday’s Titans-Dolphins game in South Florida as well as Monday’s Buccaneers-Panthers game in Charlotte due to Hurricane Matthew.

“We are in close contact with local and state authorities about the hurricane,” a league statement said. “As always, our overriding concern is for public safety and not doing anything that will divert important resources away from communities that may be in distress.

“Consistent with that, we are conducting contingency planning for Sunday’s Tennessee at Miami game as well as Monday’s Tampa Bay at Carolina game.”

So, stay tuned.

A number of college games from Thursday-Saturday in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina have been rescheduled or postponed. The NFL will probably know more by Friday about potential damage and forecasts in affected areas.
