The Vikings defense has gotten plenty of credit for the team’s success this year. The team’s offense has given the effort a lift, in large part by not giving the ball away.
As noted by Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Vikings offense has zero turnovers through four games.
“You like to think it’s coaching -- and we work hard at it -- but I think it’s players’ attention to detail and taking a lot of pride in taking care of the ball,” offensive coordinator Norv Turner said.
The record low for a single season is 10 turnovers, shared by the 2011 49ers and the 2010 Patriots.
For the Vikings, the ball security isn’t a surprise. With a commitment to controlling the ball and winning the field position battle, securing the football is a priority.
So is making field goals. One out of two ain’t bad. Unless you’re a field goal kicker.
