Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made his first appearance of the 2016 season on Sunday and it went about as most people would want.
Brady completed 28-of-40 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns as the Patriots routed the Browns 33-13 for their fourth win in five games this season. He even ran twice for 14 yards, including a first down jaunt that led to a little extra celebration from the quarterback.
Despite all that, Brady felt like there was more he could have done to help New England’s cause.
“I think there was plenty of rust out there. I can do better in a lot of areas,” Brady said in his postgame press conference.
Plenty of rust feels like it is either an overly modest assessment of a day’s work or a pretty ominous warning of things to come over the next 11 games. Either one leaves the Patriots offense in great shape after their first game with Brady back in the saddle.
