Ravens fire Marc Trestman, promote Marty Mornhinweg

The Ravens only scored 10 points in Sunday’s loss to Washington, and that will cost their offensive coordinator his job.

Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman has been fired, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. He will be replaced by Marty Mornhinweg, who had previously been Baltimore’s quarterbacks coach.

This isn’t the first time Ravens coach John Harbaugh has fired his offensive coordinator in the middle of a season: In 2012, Harbaugh fired offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell. That move (which coincidentally also came after a loss to Washington) precipitated the Ravens’ run to the Super Bowl.

Trestman was in his second season with the Ravens after spending the previous two years as head coach of the Bears. Mornhinweg is also in his second season in Baltimore. He’s previously been an offensive coordinator for the Jets, Eagles and 49ers and head coach of the Lions.
