Who do Cowboys players want as their quarterback?

h6m7j3_N9irr
PFT Cowboys insider Clarence Hill talks about Tony Romo, Dak Prescott and who he thinks the Dallas locker room wants to start going forward.

With more than 14,000 members of PFT Planet casting ballots, it’s a landslide. Nearly 80 percent think the Cowboys should stick with quarterback Dak Prescott once Tony Romo is healthy.

There’s a far more relevant constituency that, while not able to make the decision, will influence the manner in which it’s received: The players.

Appearing on Monday’s PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio and NBCSN, Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram estimated that the locker room would be even divided on the issue. Surprising on the surface, Hill points out that the bulk of the younger players don’t know or don’t care about the things Romo did in past years.

Plenty of fans feel the same way. Whether weary about Romo’s constant injury issues or thirsty for change, Prescott has become the popular choice to play, indefinitely.

That could change -- or it could be reinforced -- based on how the Cowboys do on Sunday when they face the Packers in Romo’s home state of Wisconsin. If Prescott wins that one, it will be a lot harder to bench him if/when Romo is cleared for the first post-bye game in Week Eight, against the Eagles.
