Cornerback Brent Grimes signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers earlier this year, but a chunk of the money that’s supposed to be headed his way may need to be redirected to the tax man.
Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports that Grimes, who played three years with the Dolphins before being released this offseason, owes $191,471 to the Internal Revenue Service. The information comes from a lien filed in Broward County on a Davie, Florida home owned by Grimes and his wife Miko.
According to the lien, the Grimes family owes money dating back to 2014 and the IRS has “made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid.”
Those who have followed Grimes’ career know that Miko has never shied away from using social media to take on those she feels are critical of her husband, his teammates or anyone else that might fall into the crosshairs. Her Twitter account is protected from public view, but Deadspin shares a response to Beasley — “my husband said since ur obsessed with me u can come over and eat my a– while im in town on the bye week” — that suggests things haven’t changed since his move to Tampa.
