Can you hear me now? Patriots have trouble with headsets

AP

In news that will make other teams giggle, the Patriots had communications problems at Gillette Stadium.

According to Tom Curran of CSNNE.com, Patriots coordinators Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia had to signal in plays by hand, when they were unable to use the coach-player communication system during their win over the Bengals.

Of course, other teams have long suspected shenanigans when they go to New England, and for them to have problems at home does carry a bit of irony.

The Patriots apparently have also all but given up on using their Microsoft Surface tablets, as coach Bill Belichick spiked his out of frustration two weeks ago.

  1. Belichick had long had the team practice for this situation, ever since it happened to them at a Super Bowl. Other teams prefer to be totally unprepared and then whine about it later. You know who you are.

  2. So what now CRYBABIES were they trying to cheat themselves out of the ability to communicate? Or are you going to go with “it backfired on them?

    #excuses

  3. So what are we left with here guys?

Do we finally admit that the comm systems are unpredictable? Do we finally point out that at least one game per week experiences documented comm system issues all over the league for YEARS?

Or do we dig in and insist Belichick is cheating by sabotaging his own headsets?

    You tell me.

  4. That’s not ironic. There’s a long history of headsets not working at many stadiums.

Gantt really needs to get over that Superbowl loss over a decade ago. Grow up.

  5. And yet they still won. Just shows how prepared they are for most any situation. Too bad other teams can’t say the same.

  6. did anyone see cam and his goofy hat at a losing press conference and tom with a crew neck sweater at his winning press conference buy the way I love hats but the goofy hat at a losing press conference fails miserably

  7. Something about a simple crew neck sweater at a winning press conference that just says I just took your lunch money and didn’t spend it on stupid crap !!

  8. And they were able to continue playing the game? Wow! How is that possible? I thought according to Tomlin you are supposed to turtle at that point, and then whine about it in your post game presser.

  9. Next up come January when the #1 seed is clinched:
Is how the Patriots CHEATED by allowing Brady 4 games of rest. By allowing 2 other QBs to make Paydays, or trade value — the rest of the team to get some rest. And the story will be turned to why the Patriots rested their QB for a quarter of the season to have an advantage in February because Brady was given 3 byes.
There are 1-2 games left that might even give New England a whiff of a loss. And getting to a SB after deflate-gate is one of the most incredible achievements ever, but still will be thrown into the: Deflategate/Spygate/Headsetgate/Coingate category. lol

  10. Pats are 5-1. How’s your team doing? Do you have cheese to go with that whine?

  11. Please let everyone on both sides stay healthy so we can watch the cowboys and Zeke jam the ball rightndown the patsies throats in the big game.

  12. A bit of Irony? The NFL is responsible for headsets. I hope Bill plays Mike Tomlinson’s (spelling?) Presser from last year. Crying over the headsets that the league is responsible for. Crybaby coaches, there are too many. Suck it up if you lose, don’t cry like him and Hardballs! Just remember steeler fans, your coach cheated by tripping a player. He’s great!

  13. This problem occurs in other stadiums too, but the whiny coaches and players only complain about the Patriots.
Goodell gave the other teams a head start by cheating Tom Brady. Haters go and tell your teams to make the most of it.

  14. Just like everything most teams are not ready for, the Patriots have probably practiced this scenario many times and were ready for it. No excuses and just play the game. What a concept.

The Cowboys wouldn’t beat the Patriots in a million attempts, for many obvious reasons.
    1) The cowboys have already said Romo starts when he comes back.
    2) Jason Garrett coaches the Cowboys.

  16. “In news that will make other teams giggle, the Patriots had communications problems at Gillette Stadium.”

The Pats don’t run the communications networks, the NFL does.

Shaking my head at the ignorance of this poster.

Why would he do that? It’s too much fun being petty and small-minded. This is the guy who turned “No comment” to “tacit approval of sexism”.

    Piece of work.

Did Hernandez murder the telecommunications guy in the stadium too?

Ha, the Patriots and their fans are just terrible..

    Interesting juxtaposition there.

  19. It seems you forgot to include the fact that the NFL is responsible for the headset communications in every stadium – not the home team. No irony in play at all.

Only one did. Roger was foiled again.

  21. Belichick probably had Adams disable them on purpose from up in the box, just to keep everyone on their toes. It’s all in the situations.

  22. As long as whoever supplies the comm system pays the NFL the most money to be the official headset of the NFL the NFL is OK with the reliability issues. The bottom line is money.

Brady answered the last designated question then someone blurted out what was obviously a “gotcha Statement”. Brady said Thank you guys and have a good day. Brady didn’t say no comment .

Skimmed over the NE game…Saw some sideline shots and didn’t see any tablets being held by NE coaches…As a poster commented above…Bill smashed his during the Bills game…Hey wait…Destroyed evidence….Rog, isn’t that a PED suspension at least?!!!!!!

As the number one Pats fan on PFT i can tell you we do not cheat, its all because of nonsensical media rumors.
    =============

Heck chipster, you’re only the number 3 Pats troll on PFT. Congrats on your boys winning today. Way to work on another 5-8 draft pick, they can’t even tank correctly

  26. Anyone that has used Microsoft for any extended period of time knows how Coach BB feels. Microsoft the tables you want to throw away.

Because it’s definitely not the one next to Dorchester!!!

Be a man and use a real screen name.

  28. Obviously a false flag operation by the Hoodie. I heard that the Patriots are asking Putin to help them hack in to other teams’ tablets.

  29. Remember Mike Thomlin said, “It always happens up here.” Meaning – New England. Chip Kelly went onto defend the Patriots saying, “I have heard air traffic control on my headsets on Philly.” It’s only a violation if it’s the Patriots. 31 other teams are fine.

AFC title game had the Broncos using there ipads and the Patriots were broken. The fix was in from jump. Thanks Roger….
