Aaron Rodgers: I’m just a little bit off

Through six games this season, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is posting career lows in completion percentage, yards per attempt and quarterback rating.

He wasn’t too much better down the stretch last season and the extended drop in his performance has led to plenty of thoughts about what the future holds for the two-time MVP. Some have wondered if he’ll get back to that level and others have questioned whether the current Packers approach and overall offensive makeup provides the right situation for him to rebound.

Rodgers didn’t spell out R-E-L-A-X as he once did in response to worries about the offense, but it doesn’t seem like he thinks anything dramatic needs to be done to get back on track.

“I’m just a little bit off,” Rodgers said, via Mike Garafolo of NFL Media. “We’ve been a little bit off collectively. I’m confident we’re gonna get it fixed pretty soon.”

Rodgers posted his best completion percentage of the season against the Cowboys last Sunday, but turned the ball over twice and missed a couple of throws to an open Randall Cobb that could have changed the way the game played out. That would lend some support to the idea that things are close to coming together, but the frequency of games where things look more than just a little off and the extended period in which they’ve occurred is a strong argument on the other side.

Ultimately, the answer will come over the next 11 games. If Rodgers goes on a roll like he has in the past, the questions should die down. If things continue along the same lines, however, selling the idea of small changes getting them back on track will be impossible.
