Goodell says NFL is still gathering information on Las Vegas

After aiding in the effort for the Rams to move to Los Angeles, Jerry Jones is spearheading the effort from the owners to move the Raiders to Las Vegas. Will everything go according to plan in two years?

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league is a long way from knowing whether or not the Raiders will move to Las Vegas.

Goodell said today at the owners’ meeting that they’re still collecting information about Nevada’s plan to build an NFL stadium and whether having the Raiders in Vegas would work for the league.

“There’s still a great deal of information that we need to gather with respect to the circumstances we see in Las Vegas, the opportunities and the challenges,” Goodell said.

The Raiders gave a presentation to the ownership about their current stadium situation, as did the Chargers, who are still working on the situation in San Diego, and the Rams and Falcons, who have both begun construction on new stadiums.

Goodell did not express any hesitation about playing in Las Vegas at all, as the league now seems unconcerned about the influence of gambling -- an issue that had once been seen as a serious stumbling block. Instead, the NFL simply wants to make sure that if a team is heading to Las Vegas, the right deal is in place.
