Packers owe Chiefs nothing for Knile Davis

The Packers had a no-cost rental of running back Knile Davis. And they decided to move on before the price tag kicked in.

Per a source with knowledge of the trade, the Packers owed the Chiefs compensation for Davis only if he was on the 53-man roster for at least three games.

Davis had been on the 53-man roster for two games. He now hits waivers, where the Chiefs or any team could make a claim for him. If he clears waivers, Davis will then be a free agent.

In his two games with the Packers, he had five rushing attempts for five total yards. He also caught two passes for four yards.

  1. They kicked the tries on the notorious fumbler and decided ‘we have our own guys who can fumble.’

  2. He was as valuable to the Packers this season as Peterson has been to the Vikings. Cheaper though. A little.

moves like this reek of desperation from a soon to be 3rd place team.

So if you add depth to your roster after injuries it reeks of desperation? Are you kidding me? Every teams adds depth at the bottom when they have a need. In the end, it didn’t cost anything, so you might as well give it a shot.

Peterson in his current physical condition > the crap the Packers currently have on their running back depth chart.

  5. Its more a statement as to how much Ted Thompson values his draft picks that he would cut the guy now rather than lose out on a 7th rounder in the spring. Ted apparently thinks the 7th rounder has more upside potential and sadly for Davis, Ted is probably right.

The Packers run game has outperformed the Vikings run game three years in a row, and at less than 20% the total cost.

    Go brag to your dog.

now, if the refs could just get to where they feel they owe nothing to the packers….classless bunch, certainly their fans!!!

Is that just an automatic response for a Viking fan? Blaming the refs? That was obviously the reason why the Packers put up 32 yesterday, and clearly the reason why the Vikes struggle to put up double digits on offense. I’ve never heard such a whiny bunch of fans. Get over it.

Kniles Davis was traded to a bad team and managed to get himself released. There is hope for you Jamie Collins!

Maybe he can look to latch on to the Vikes now? Word on the street is that they are desperate to find some offense.

  10. Barely had time to learn the playbook in GB, he’ll get snagged up by somebody if for no reason that he’s a threat to get TD’s on Kick Returns.

Can he throw? Cuz Bradford’s only going to last for a few more games with the pounding he’s taking week after week, and the Vikes are going to be looking for another QB. A sieve offensive line and an immobile QB are a bad mix.

  12. That’s Screwy. Teams shouldn’t be able to do trade for a guy and cut him for free. There should be some sort of compensation.

  13. So much for the great cheapskate TT. Now he has one running back, another cheap undrafted rookie. Lacey wasn’t great to begin with and El Cheapo Ted never went shopping when there actually were some decent RBs available. You’re not going to get past the initial playoff rounds on AR’s arm alone.
