Tyrann Mathieu out 3-6 weeks with shoulder injury

The Cardinals will be without one of their top defensive players for the next month or so.

Arizona coach Bruce Arians confirmed today that defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has a shoulder injury that will cause him to miss three to six weeks.

Mathieu has started all eight games for the Cardinals this year but was hurt in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.

The 3-4-1 Cardinals are on their bye this week, and Arians said the team is so beaten up that he’s not going to have them do any practices this week, hoping they can recover and get healthy for a second-half playoff run. Doing that without Mathieu on the field for three to six weeks will be tough.

Didn’t the Cards just give this big mouth overrated clown a huge contract?

Overrated? I question if you’ve ever watched football.

  2. I’m done bashing on the Cardinals this year…the NFL is a coin flip half the games, and after Seattle and Arizona bashing each others heads in last Sunday night for 75 minutes, the NFL had em both on the East Coast playing at 10 am…..on a day where there was a balance of 7 morning games and 2…count em 2 in the 1 pm slot. Business wise….the white shirts don’t want Seattle or Arizona to prosper really…

  3. If only the Badgah could hit like Bob Sanders.

I love how the Sunday Ticket folks get screwed by the Thursday and London games. Pay all that money for fewer and fewer games. Really? Only two games in the afternoon?

  4. Love this kids heart and passion…but he is overrated. And, fragile as hell.

We should be talking about Palmer…time to hang it up. He’s playing like he did in Oakland now.

Needed to find a reliable backup after last few years debacle. And failed to do so.

  5. Possibly also time for a new HC? BA wont adapt, is never flexible with his talent. It is his way or the highway. The BA honeymoon is over! He has been big time out coached this year.

Should have drafted Derrick Carr in ’14. It was an obvious fit. But Arians’ arrogance made him pick a safety who can’t cover instead.

  7. Season’s over. Window closed. Have fun rebuilding with some obscure college coach and a new QB.

And yeah, Matthew is the most overrated DB in the game. He’s really nothing but a slot corner.

Cardinals are two games back because the Seachickens have no O-line, RB, or QB. When Carson beats you in Seattle again, it’ll be a one-game difference.

  9. So what you really mean, Skippie, is that the Cards at their best could only tie the Seahawks at their worst…and the Cards can only get worse while the Seahawks can only get better. Good to know. Try to curb the jealousy.
