Before signing running back Bishop Sankey to take the spot of running back Jamaal Charles, the Chiefs considered a couple of other options.
Per a league source, the Chiefs worked out running backs Trent Richardson and Vick Ballard.
The Chiefs also considered receiver Marcus Johnson, defensive back Lee Hightower, defensive end Rakim Cox, and tackle Joseph Cheek.
At 5-2, the Chiefs have a trio of winnable games coming up, against the Jaguars, Panthers, and Buccaneers, before traveling to Denver and Atlanta before a short-week visit from the Raiders.
It’s admirable that Richardson, the third overall pick in the 2012 draft, keeps trying to get back to the NFL. At some point, however, he needs to realize that it’s just over.
