The Cowboys aren’t the only team that has gotten a call from the Jets.
Per a league source, the Jets are “actively shopping” Sheldon Richardson as the trade deadline approaches. The window closes at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Richardson has become the odd man out, given the extension signed by Muhammad Wilkerson and the investment of a top-10 2015 pick in Leonard Williams. A history of off-field issues complicates the situation, since any team that trades for Richardson would have to be willing to take a leap of faith regarding his ability to stay out of trouble.
The presence of Wilkerson and Williams at defensive end has resulted in Richardson playing some linebacker, which he believes will make him more money. It’s becoming more and more clear the long-term money may not be coming from the Jets.
