Which sub.-500 team is most likely to make it to the playoffs?

Every year since 2000, at least one team with a record of .500 or below at the midpoint of the season has recovered to make it to the playoffs. Last year, five did.

This year, several sub-.500 teams have a viable chance to make it. Wednesday’s question of the day on PFT Live asks which of several sub-.500 teams through eight weeks is the most likely to get to the postseason.

The choices are below. Cast a ballot, argue in the comments, and tune in at 6:00 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Radio, and/or NBCSN at 7:00 a.m. ET.

  1. Panthers are in a poor division do they stand a good chance of recovering.

    Bengals have Baltimore and Steelers to get over and I can’t see them eclipsing thise two teams.

    Cardinals, Saints and Dolphins are all muck and should all be on golf courses in January.

  2. Only Bengals do it is if they win a weak North (which is possible). Looks like the wildcards will be entirely from the West, with an outside chance for the Bills or Titans.

  3. I actually want to see the Bungals make it, so I can see them implode like always.

    I don’t think they’re gonna make it though, that window of opportunity is now shut.

  4. Cardinals can still do it, especially with the shape the Seattle 2013s are in.

  5. Even if all they do is play .500 the rest of the way the 2 AFC wildcards will come out of the west with double digit wins, needing 7 wins to get there neither Cincy (8 to play) or Miami (9) can catch them. Even though the NFC is more wide open looking at their remaining schedules it’s hard to believe that either the Saints or the Panthers can pull out 6 or 7 wins respectively by default that leaves the Cards although it’s not looking pretty for then either

    kind of a silly way to watch sports to me, but hey, I guess some people got nothing better to do than not only waste 4 hours watching a bad game on tv but actively rooting for it. No wonder the products coming out of our entertainment industries are so poor- they just have to live up to this kind of expectation.

    Dolphins have a cake schedule, with only 2 teams with a winning record left on the schedule.
    ++++++++++++++++

    The fish need to go 7-2 to get to 10 wins. It’s not Miami’s schedule you need to look at, it’s Denver’s, KC’s and Oakland’s. The Broncos and Raiders get to 10 wins if they win half their remaining games, KC gets there going 5-4.
