Christine Michael heading to Green Bay

A day after he was cut by the Seahawks, Christine Michael is heading to Green Bay.

The Packers claimed Michael off waivers, NFL Network reports.

Green Bay has a major need at running back, as the running game has suffered since Eddie Lacy went down with an injury. Ty Montgomery, a wide receiver, has transitioned to running back and become the Packers’ leading rusher since Lacy’s injury.

Michael is Seattle’s leading rusher this season with 117 carries for 469 yards and six touchdowns, but the Seahawks decided to waive him anyway. Green Bay will only have to pay him about $280,000 for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old Michael was the Seahawks’ second-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, taken one pick after Lacy. They traded him to Dallas in 2015, and he also briefly played in Washington before returning to Seattle last year.

The Packers and Seahawks play in Week 14, when Michael will try to make Seattle regret cutting him.

  1. I don’t understand why Carroll let him walk for nothing. Thompson probably would have given him a low round draft choice as desperate as the Packers are for a running game.

  2. Too little too late. By the time he gets it, the play book that is, they will be 4-7 and pretty much out of it.
Not to mention who is going to run block. Batiari and Lang are out, maybe for some time and the two that replace them are the dregs of the bush.

  3. There has to be more to his story in Seattle, he’s getting paid nickels and leading the team in rushing.

  4. I don’t understand why Carroll let him walk for nothing.

Because Thompson (as Schneider’s mentor) is not nearly as stupid as Idzik was.

  5. In a strange twist of fate, Vikings trolls will likely rename him “Chris.”

    Go figure.

If you want to win awards in the league play the traditioanaly horrible Packers defense!
    //////////////////////////////////

A little trick they learned from the Vikings on draft day.

  9. If Christine has ever wondered what the chassis of a bus looks like, he will know soon enough when the DIVA throws him under it!

  10. They have one HB on the team, it was a pretty obvious move to at least take a look at at him.

He doesn’t need 100 yard gamess, he needs to be effective so Rodgers doesn’t need to throw it over 50 times. It would also help if the Defense shows up so they don’t have to climb up hil against double digit points for most of the game.

You do realize the only team worse than the skidmark of a team down in San Jose, is, the Browns… Right? Wake up, cupcake.

  12. The NFC North winner will not be going anywhere in postseason.

Four teams loaded with flaws — most notably Detroit, Minnesota and Green Bay cannot run the ball at all.

That’s a ticket home come January.

  13. Another guy the coaching staff won’t get ready to play on game day. The problem isn’t players as much as it is plays. The team checked out and won’t be back until next season. Hopefully with a new coach and staff. And without Ted Thompson running things.

    Dude’s name is Christine.

Well, in all fairness, we have a dude named Danielle.

  15. Michael was cut 4 times in the past 2 years for lack of focus. So what will be the game time over/under on the number of times the diva gives Michael the stink eye per game for being in the wrong place? Vegas has the initial line at 5.

To be fair the Browns have had a tougher schedule so far, it’s easily possible the Niners are worse

  17. This should be fun! For as much potential talent that C-Mike has here are the downsides that have plagued him now for 4 years:

    1. Complete lack of football IQ. He needs to be spoon fed both the plays and audibles at the line.

    2. Even with this, he can’t seem to follow his blockers or hit the called gaps a significant percentage of the time (like more than half the time he gets the wrong route).

    3. When he does see an opening he’s more likely to trip over his own feet than to get the extra 5-10 yards past the line.

He has improved a bit on his fumbles and pass blocking over the past year but I have the strong sense that he just plain wore Wilson and Pete out with his constant checking in on plays prior to the snap.

  18. See this is what happens when you aren’t a team like the Ravens. Clearly fighting for scraps. Won’t help your team if it gets to the Super Bowl vs The Ravens. We already won this thing. All that needs to be done is fast forwarding to February and watching Goodell give the trophy to Harbaugh again. Ravens are a pure class organization unlike the PED Packers.

  19. “Big move. This could potentially change the season from 6-10 to 8-8.”

If that potential is realized, Green Bay will win the division!

  20. Hey trolls
Last time the Packers were 4-5 with a ton of injuries they won the Super Bowl don’t count them out🖕

  21. Farfetched as it may be….what team is he associated with if he somehow wins the rushing title??

  22. His name is Christine and he tackles himself too frequently.
You can’t have the name AND the inability to actually run for yards and expect to last.
Keep the name, stop falling down at first contact.
That’s my free advice. Worth exactly what you paid for it.

  23. “Last time the Packers were 4-5 with a ton of injuries they won the Super Bowl don’t count them out”

Nice try. They were 3-3 after 6 games in 2010, 6-3 after 9 games, 8-6 after 14, 10-6 at playoff time. If Desean Jackson didn’t get the late punt return TD vs NYG the Packers would’ve been out of the playoffs. They won the Super Bowl.

They did have 16 guys on IR and a bunch of shorter injuries that year.

  24. Here’s my advice. Catch 10 flare passes for 60 yards and now I can get my B.S. ppr points like every other GB opp I play in my league!!

Bet you wouldn’t say that to his face lol

  26. Here’s a guy who used to have a really bad fumble problem. He still kind of did actually… he fumbled the game away at the end of the game in crunch time week one. How is that going to work in cold GB? It is already almost Thanksgiving.

He will want to avoid contact even more in that cold.

The Ravens already won it all? Wow. I must have fallen into a deep Rip Van Winkle sleep where they miraculously came back into relevance.

  29. I don’t get to follow the Seahawks that well but you guys that do have make some sort of beef with the stats folks cause I could only find 4 fumbles since 2014, and he lost 1 of those this year, game 2 on a pass play. 4 fumbles, 1 lost, since 2014. Also, being so inept at finding the hole that his O linemen open up for him, why was ypc so good up til the Jets’ game? And it should be understandable that everyone’s ypc went down when facing the Jets’ run D.

Could it be that it all comes down to the mobility of Wilson? When Wilson can move, everyone else can, too.

  30. Didn’t the Seahawks unload Ahman Green because of fumbling issues and the Packers traded Fred Vinson for him?Ahman had about 4 great years in Green Bay and at one point was among the top 5 RB’s in the NFL.

  31. Nice for him he went to another team with legit playoff aspirations. Not so nice for him that he’s walking in to a hot mess between coach and star. Also Seattle winters are a gray rainy heap of blah but I’m guessing he’ll be missing that once he gets slammed to the frozen tundra in December
