After five games without forcing a turnover, Jaguars near a record

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense can set a dubious record on Sunday if they fail to force a turnover.

Jacksonville hasn’t forced a turnover in any of its last five games, and if the Jags again fail to force a turnover Sunday in Detroit, they’ll be the first team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to go six straight games without forcing a turnover.

It won’t get any easier against a Lions team that has been good about protecting the football. Matthew Stafford has thrown five interceptions and lost one fumble, and those are the only six turnovers the Lions’ offense has coughed up all season.

The last time the Jaguars forced a turnover was in the first quarter of a Week Four game against the Colts, when Yannick Ngakoue intercepted Andrew Luck. As coach Gus Bradley fights to keep his job, his defense is overdue to win a fight for the ball.
