Vontaze Burfict fires middle fingers at crowd

Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict will be getting fined again. For a change, it will have nothing to do with anything he did while on the field.

Burfict plainly fired a pair of middle fingers at the crowd during Sunday’s loss to the Bills. It’s unclear what prompted the gesture, or whether it was meant for Cincinnati fans or Buffalo fans.

Several years ago, Titans owner Bud Adams was fined $250,000 for making the same double-barreled gesture toward the Buffalo Bills during a game in Nashville. Discipline for players who display the obscene gesture is much lower.

Most recently, former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was fined $12,000 for firing a middle finger toward the Washington sideline during a 2014 preseason game. Former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk was fined $10,000 for shooting a middle finger toward his own sideline in 2011. (Maybe it was meant for the quarterback.)

Potentially the most expensive middle finger came after Super Bowl XLVI. The NFL sued M.I.A. for $16.6 million after she fired off a middle finger while performing during the halftime show. The claim was resolved via confidential settlement.

  1. Don’t root for the guy or the team but brady sat out 4 games for ???? And this is like the nitwits 100 th offense

  2. Hard to fire Lewis; have to choose whether you want to go back to last place every year or make the playoffs and know you won’t ever win a game.

  3. Breaking players like him is hurting the nfl!

Hope all you participation trophy winners are happy, it’s players like vontaze that built the nfl

Players like him are hurtling the NFL!

Burfict isnt hurtling the NFL, and he isnt hurting it either. Have you ever seen what the NFL was back in the 70’s and 80’s? This is a brutal game dude…we need MORE guys like Burfict. We also need a lot less 15 yard penalties. I want to see the sport that I used to watch as a kid.

  5. …some how guided the Bengals to five straight playoff appearances f
Yeah except prior to that his first 8 seasons he averaged 7.5 wins per year with 2 winning seasons.

So he was the definition of average prior to getting Dalton, and on top of that he has what? 1 playoff win? Anybody else would have been fired

  6. wow! you can just tell this guy has a really bright future after football is over for him……hahahahahahaha omg, i’m dying. this dirt bag will be in prison within 5 years after he leaves the nfl.

  7. As long as people throw money at the NFL, they have nothing to complain about. And Burfict is a product of the NFL.

  8. Hope all you participation trophy winners are happy, it’s players like vintaze that built the NFL

Hard hitting I admire! Out of control I do not and flipping off the fans? Do you admire this? He should be suspended indefinitely without pay.

  9. Why do you guys think he will be in prison? Do any of you guys saying this actually know the kid? Wow.

Marvin Lewis has a job because he is ….

Jeff Fisher has a job because he is…….

  11. Florio continues his media persecution against Burfict. Thank God, Florio wasn’t around in the ’70s and ’80s or Ronnie Lott, etc would be in his hit list.

  12. He was reacting to having a beer dumped on him by a “fan”.

Anyone in the stands that has the nerve to throw a beer on another human knowing full well the man he threw it at would kill him, but having a wall between them sure isn’t a man no matter what’s between their legs.

  13. I can’t imagine Paul Brown, Vince Lombardi, George Halas, Tom Landry, or any other of the great coaches putting up with that from one of their players.

Marvin Lewis does….none of his players respect him, the organization, or the game.

  14. He was just showing everyone how many playoff wins his team has, but unfortunately he’s not too good with counting.

  15. This has been going on for way to long and it’s 100% on the owners. It’s not the coach. It’s not the GM. Mike Brown has 100% control over this organization, and obviously he’s ok with this kind of behavior. There is a long, long list of players that behave badly that have been part of this Bengals organization. If Mike Brown didn’t like it, he’d do something about it. He hasn’t.

Obviously you weren’t around because Ronnie Lott was a 100% clean player. He was talented and a very hard hitter, but he played by the rules. He also never lost his head and cost his team victories. He was a complete gentleman as soon as the whistle blew. He had self respect, respect for his teammates, and respect for his opponent. Burfict has none of the above.

  17. tombones, Ronnie Lott would be a dirty player by today’s rules. I was around back then. And, Burfict is a sweetheart off the field.Do your homework, dumb boy.

  18. Hahahaha I punked Burfict when he was in college at Arizona State. In 2011, I was visiting my brother there. We were at a bar when this clown showed up and started acting like he owned the place, talking about how he was going to “whoop on everyone” for not giving him “respect.” We tried to ignore him until he came over to our table and confronted us. Him being 6’1 248 lbs. and me 6’7 280 lbs. I changed his attitude very quickly. I’m just glad the guy who took a video of the incident deleted it instead of putting it out in cyberspace.

    ______

I don’t know how much of it comes from Florio targeting certain players or his loyalty to the Steelers.
