Falcons use Twitter to thank Browns for Taylor Gabriel

Falcons wide receiver Taylor Gabriel caught two touchdown passes Sunday in the Falcons’ 38-19 win over the Cardinals.

On the second, the Falcons’ official Twitter account seized the opportunity to troll the official account of the Browns, Gabriel’s old team.

Gabriel was waived by the Browns during the 53-man roster cutdown in September and claimed the next day. As an undrafted rookie in 2014 in Cleveland Gabriel played for Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

As Gabriel was weaving his way through the Cardinals’ defense, the Browns were busy losing to the Giants and falling to 0-12. They’re an easy target right now, and the Falcons just couldn’t pass up the chance to rub it in.

Gabriel now has five touchdowns this season, four receiving and one rushing. He had one touchdown in two seasons with the Browns.

  1. Look the Browns are abysmal and deserve to be mocked by top organizations like the Steelers, Pats etc. You know, organizations that have actually won something. But not the Falcons.

NFL Championships: Browns 4, Falcons 0
Any league championships: Browns 8, Falcons 0

    Troll when you win something………….

  2. Kicking ’em while they’re down, stay classy Atlanta.

Although in all fairness it should be noted it would be impossible to kick the Browns while they are up, so there’s that to consider.

  3. He would not have had the same success in Cleveland since they are lacking in so many key areas.

  4. “He would not have had the same success in Cleveland since they are lacking in so many key areas.”

He caught 64 passes over the last 2 seasons with the Browns. He’s now caught 21 passes in 10 games with the Falcons. So actually he’s on about the same overall pace he had in Cleveland. He was much more productive in 2014 than 2015, and the Browns drafted 4 WR’s this year, so it’s possible your statement is correct. As a Steeler fan who also sees a lot of Browns games, I can say that I always thought Gabriel was underused by Cleveland, and I’m not surprised to see him contributing elsewhere… but he would not have made any difference on this year’s Browns team.

  5. “He wouldnt matter there, they suck”

Yeah they suck bc they do stuff like getting rid of good players, drafting poorly, and being a QB and coaching carousel.

Travis Benjamin is another guy they let go whos having a career year with Rivers

Yeah…..he’s on pace for fewer yards this year and the exact same number of TD’s as last year….Rivers is helping him so much!!….

  8. wow, people can’t take a joke…
look, cleveland fans have been watching a sick joke for years..

pretty simple- for the last few years Farmer got grilled for how small the wr’s were… They let Gabriel go as the last cut and let the 4 wr’s stiffs all make the team…lol…3 of them would not be on any other roster in NFL.
Corey coleman is fast and small…hmm, a younger Taylor Gabriel….Sashi Farmer strikes again

  9. LOL at all the comments above about those Cleveland championships. Huge stats for a team that’s only been around since 1999.

  10. Yea this is the same team that traded the rights to JJ11 for a ton of draft picks. None of those players are in the league and JJ is on his way to becoming a HOFer. I love the Browns. But they stink.

I firmly believe that the Browns would have one win if they played the packers this season.

  12. I didn’t have a problem with the Browns cutting Gabriel. The guy, when he happened to catch the ball, never could keep from falling down. (I suppose the artificial turf has helped with that.)The problem was keeping Hawkins instead of Gabriel.

No fans are more clueless about the game of football than Viking fans.

And no fans are more obsessed with the Green Bay Packers than Viking fans.

  14. Look, the reason why the Browns are 0-12 is they have no clue how to spot or maintain talent.

I am a Pats fan, the Browns brought New England, Lewis, Shread, and Mingo who might turn into something.

The Browns had talent at the start of this season, and they were to cheap to pay for it.

I think they left at least 5 above average to borderline pro bowlers walk at the beginning of the season because of the money.

What the Moneyball Browns do not understand, is alot more people are needed to win a football game, than a baseball game (9), basket ball game (5) or Hockey game (6).

In the sports where you do not need alot of players you can get by with one absolute stud.

Yeah, I live in New England, I am a Pats fan, but the C’s are also in town. Based on what he did in last years finals LeBron is on a slightly different level than the rest of the NBA players. You do not have that in football, to many other pieces. Drew Brees might be a sure fire hall of famer most years the Saints are around average, Andrew Luck so far so good, Andrew does not play defense and the Saints and Colts look similar to me. The best current QB might be Aaron Rodgers. Most weeks, Brees, Luck and Rodgers could sue their team for lack of support.

That 1 big hit in the draft will not bail out your football team Browns fans. You need to start being a better judge of talent.
