Kiko Alonso had some “bad blood” toward “ignorant” Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick got rough treatment from Kiko Alonso during the 49ers’ loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. The Miami linebacker intercepted Kaepernick and was in on the game-ending tackle as Kaepernick tried to run to the end zone on the final play. Afterward, Alonso indicated that he has some personal animosity toward Kaepernick.

Alonso, whose father is a Cuban exile, was put off by what he called “ignorant” comments from Kaepernick about Fidel Castro.

“I do have feelings about it. So there was some bad blood there for me with Kaepernick,” Alonso told Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Alonso’s father said of Kaepernick, “He doesn’t know about the suffering the Cuban people have had. He doesn’t have a clue.”

Kiko then added, “He’s ignorant.”

Alonso didn’t say anything to Kaepernick about it on the field, but he did try to teach him a lesson.

  1. Alonso is my new hero. Anyone who dislikes Kaepernick is aces with me. I wish Alonso would have put him out of that game.

  2. Colin Kaepernick, already fairly unlikable, has really surprised me with just how much I continue to like him less. Not because of his stance, but because of the literal strings hanging out of him while he’s trying to persuade himself.

  3. Well done and well played Mr. Kiko Alonso. Colon Kaepernick is a clueless ass who thankfully doesn’t vote.

  4. A guy making $20 million a year pokes his finger in the eye of the system that gave him the opportunity to make $20 million a year.

Im not saying that racism isnt a problem. Only a fool would say that.

But you’d think that a guy making $20 million a year could find a way to build a constructive dialog rather than being insulting and disparaging.

Unless of course he’s simply ignorant.

  5. Being a native South Floridian and non-Cuban Latino, I’ve always found it very strange how misinformed the majority of the rest of the country is on Fidel Castro and the current state of Cuba.

People who wear Fidel Castro and Che Guevara clothing are complete morons. They have zero knowledge of the effects of the Castro regime on Cuban people. Fidel Castro was not some liberal-minded forward-thinking progressive. He was a dictator that ruled with absolute power, who silenced, jailed, exiled and murdered all of those in Cuba who spoke against or opposed him, tearing families apart between those scolded by his totalitarian regime and those who ran away seeking a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

Havana was the Las Vegas of the western hemisphere during the 40s and 50s. It was revered as one of the hot spots of the growing western world at the time. Fidel Castro and Che Guevara ran Havana and the rest of Cuba into the ground. Where once beautiful buildings and mansions stood now run down edifices and old structures with caved-in roofs glare back at you. My Cuban friends who go back to visit tell me the same thing; it’s old, dirty, deteriorating, and it breaks their heart to see what it’s become.

You can blame that on the embargo all you want, but Castro and his family pocket a huge chunk of Cuba’s income. Not having the embargo would have just kept feeding another greedy communist dictator who was pawning off socialist rhetoric so that he could keep stealing from Cuban citizens. Fidel Castro has set Cuba back by decades over the last 57 years, and the damage has been devastating.

Props to Kiko. That wasn’t just for him or his father. That was for all of the people who’ve waited decades to see their families again, and the millions who died waiting to one day see una Cuba libré.

  6. The head of our country, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, is just as ignorant as Kaepernick is.

He has nothing between his ears and only got elected because he has his daddy’s last name and women find him attractive.

    Sad, but true.

  7. That really could not have turned out any better. Kudos to Alonzo, and God bless his family, and any others affected by Castro over the years.

    Eat it, Kaepernick.

  8. Kaepernick continues to how misguided and unenlightened he actually is. I’m not sure why so much attention is paid to people’s opinion’s just because they can play make believe, I mean act, sing, or play a game, for a living.

Maybe he should heed what Ole Lincoln once said, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

Then again…it wasn’t said by a brutal, tyrannical Communist dictator, so he probably isn’t aware of the quote.

  9. Kudos, irkjames! That’s the most thorough and intelligent description of what Castro’s regime has meant for Cuba that you’ll find on this blog.

  10. Man I think its past time that Kapernick drop the politics. These people will never understand. The US supported a man (Rafael Trujillo) who ordered cutting up haitians in DR. At one time almost every country south of the border was run by a dictator backed by the US. Anybody who tried to change this got assinated. They tried with Castro 100s of times and failed. They killed the Kennedys and kept framing some random white dudes. The only real reason people hate Castro is he did something nobody south the border could do- govern his own country instead of being US’ puppet.

  11. …Kapernick is just 5 more weeks away from playing in his last NFL game….The 49ers can then jettison him (and Chip Kelly) and not have him cry discrimnation. He is toxic for football and humanity……

  12. The more Kaepernick uses his arm and his mouth, the worse he becomes. He should just stick to running the option and not his mouth. He isn’t worth a crap for anything else.

Your thumbs down has been noted Mr Kaepernick!

  14. irkjames….that was a powerful post and very well said. As for Kiko he is now America’s newest hero

  15. The more Colin Kaepernick talks, the more of an uninformed, immature jacka$$ he shows himself to be.

Kiko Alonso clearly understood Fidel Castro much better, from his family’s personal experience, than this attention-seeking, left-coast liberal clown ever could read about.

I don’t care much for the Dolphins, but Kiko just became my favorite. Not for targeting Kaepernick on the field – that’s his job – but for simply saying the words all of America wants to say about Kaepernick:

    ““He’s ignorant.”

  16. Quite strange that Leftists are praising a Dictator that imprisoned and killed gays, murdered opponents in front of their families, and so abused his people that thousands risked their lives and died to flee his “socialist paradise.”

Perhaps not strange at all as they tend to be the smartest-morons and least self-aware people you will ever meet. CK is no different.

  17. Kaepernick is ignorant, but most kids his age are as they have been brainwashed by the media for their entire life. How the media turned Castro, who tortured and murdered thousands of his citizens, into some sort of ‘hero of the people’, who ‘stood up to the US’ is rather amazing. But the younger generation have fallen for it hook line and sinker.

  18. Before Castro took power the island of Cuba was corrupt and controlled by outsiders (U.S). The Castro take over wasn’t the problem it was how he kept his own people in poverty and brutalized them (those that disagreed with his views)once he got control. Kapernick just doesn’t get the suffering that went on because that.

  19. And here we go again. See, this is the problem in America right now. You either have to be for something or against it. There’s no middle ground and no rationality. If you mention a few things that Castro did that were positive, you love him and everything he did. Same with the military. If you point out that the military is being used to further an agenda that is not in the public’s best interest, you hate the military, and are anti-American. You wanna talk about ignorant? Take a look at the American public at large. “because they invest more in their educational system than they do in their prison system, which we do not do here [United States] even though we’re fully capable of doing that.” What a horrible, unforgivable thing to say!!

  20. I’m a 49ers fan and used to support Kap but his off the field issues have made me step back from that. I’ll root for him on the field and on the field only. I didn’t mind the kneeling down because everyone has a right and he actually brought conversation to the table but the comments on Castro were beyond dumb and shows he didn’t do any research at all. This will actually hurt him with the whole BLM-kneeling thing. If he’s this stupid with Castro, people will start tuning him out.
I do have to disagree with most of the comments on his play though. I watch every game and he was easily the best player on the team last week. He torched Miami with his arm and legs. The interception was gift wrapped as the receiver should have caught it. If he had any other talent besides Hyde, they would have won that game. His play the last 4 weeks has been vastly improved and anyone thinking he won’t be starting for an NFL team next year obviously isn’t watching him play right now.

  21. Kap is ignorant? This cant be. Liberal America has intelligence on lockdown. Only people who don’t toe the line of the Liberal agenda are ignorant. If Kap told us that water wasn’t wet, the Liberals would all stand behind him, and anyone who questions the validity that water is no longer wet is just a hate mongering, racist, Trumper…

  22. I believe the 49ers are better than their record indicates. Maybe the players don’t have their heart and souls in the game due to the distraction their jerk quarterback receives. Watching the game, the cameras constantly focused on Kaepernick, on and off the field of play.

There is no middle ground with Castro. You can’t point out one piece of Castro’s regime and ignore the rest. You can’t ignore the thousands of people who fell victim to firing squads, the thousands of people who’s property was stolen by the Castro regime, the thousands of people who were imprisoned for their opposition. His “investment to education” was just a tactic to control the message to the Cuban people. Many families left luxurious lives to come to America with pennies in their pocket in fear of Castro (my family being one of those). People risked their lives to flee the Castro regime. Although Cuba still isn’t free, the death of Castro is a step in the right direction.

Kaepernick is ignorant because he disagrees with the mainstream perspective on many topics?
    ====

You, like many people, suffer from the inability to separate fact from opinion. Saying “I like Fidel Castro” is an opinion. A bad one, but an opinion nonetheless.

Saying “Castro was good for the Cuban people” is ignorant because it means you don’t understand, or insist on ignoring, the facts.

  25. Removing your helmet on the field is a personal foul.

Still waiting for the 49ers last play in that game…..

    Rules are rules.

  26. Is this the same Kiko Alonso that was shown celebrating wildly after pile jumping on Suh’s game saving tackle? Might wanna take a look in the mirror sir, ignorance comes in many forms…

When talking about Hitler does anybody say, “man that hitler guy did some good things.” Talk to a cuban about their experiences than you’ll know the true Cuba. They even had a espn spring training baseball game there this year and behind the reporter guy started shouting and throwing papers in the air and people came and threw him in a car and drive away. You don’t truly know what happens to him after because the cuban government controls everything the media puts out. Everybody here criticizing castro would be captured and punished or killed. Kaepernick has that freedom here…for now…since more and more young people look up to people and leaders with ideologies that take away individual rights.

  28. Kap had his “15 minutes of fame” when the Niners were a credible team, basically 1 season. Since then he has become a non-factor in the NFL and his once promising career as a QB has all but fallen by the wayside. It would almost appear that he is valiantly trying to become significant again.

It speaks volumes to who he is, and also his ability as an NFL player that he has decided to focus on non-NFL subjects to attract headlines.

  29. Now, if Kiko would add a little extra mustard the next time he plays against that Trump worshiper Tom Brady, I’ll really be impressed!

  30. Kaepernick’s comments on Castro were, of course, profoundly ignorant and hurtful to the families of the tens of thousands of Cubans murdered by the Castro regime. That’s not to suggest that Kiko Alonzo is better versed on human rights issues or totalitarian regimes. It does, however, suggest Alonzo’s instincts on these matters are (somehow) better than Kaepernick’s.

  31. Kaepernick has the nerve to complain and demonstrate his frustration about the oppression of African Americans in our country, yet he supports Cuba’s equivalent of Hitler? The man was a brutal tyrant who made millions of Cubans suffer for years and years. Hey Kaep, if you’re not going to open a history book and learn the facts about Castro, then stick to football. Oh wait…you’re not very good at that either. Well, at least cut that stupid hair off. It’s like you suddenly thought a “fro” would make you look more African American…it only makes you look really stupid.

Preach. They hear what they want to.

  33. Say what you will, but a lot of people in California are not as critical of socialism as the rest of the country. I know of at least one person of Cuban decent that praises Castro and visits Cuba regularly. How about the band “Rage Against the Machine” as well as other American bands that have publicly praised the Castro regime? Yes, it’s all ignorant, and it drives me crazy as a California native, but that’s how people are out here. Get use to, it’s going to happen in Florida too.

  34. So the Cuban guy doesn’t think the black guy understands the suffering of an entire people?

    Talk about “ignorant”.

    _______________________

No he is ignorant by definition, ignorant: lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated.

Talks about the need for change in a corrupt system but doesn’t vote even though there are ballot questions in his state on decriminalizing pot, prison sentencing reform, judges, education and taxation.

Talks about oppression while wearing a Castro shirt.

Talks about the need for dialogue between police and community wears pig socks.

So, yes he is ignorant and disagreement with the mainstream has nothing to do with it.

People are saying it’s ignorant because he doesn’t understand what he is saying. More is spent on education than prisons because Castro would simply murder people than house them in jails (or send criminals to the US). So called ‘positives’ like the amount put into education are commonly self-reported and misrepresented by Cuban government

  37. I am now a HUGE Kiko Alonso fan. Kaepernick is a complete idiot and a disgrace to my 49ers who I no longer even root for because of him. I wish Alonso would have broken his sternum

  38. jag1959,you are spot on. Not only is he ignorant, he is a hypocrite as well. If he didn’t even exercise his right to vote, how can he expect informed people to listen or agree with things he has taken issue with? He has made a fool of himself. That’s about all that he has accomplished with this.

  39. Had Krapermick been born without football talent he would probably be working at McDonalds right now and organizing protests. Either that or unemployed sucking on the govt teat collecting general assistance while at the same time rallying against that same govt. He’s a hypocritical punk. Im actually tired of hearing about him. I cant wait til he’s out of the league and disappears just like Manziel.

  40. I am from Florida and I remember the news, almost daily back in the 80’s, the Coast Guard would rescue an old rickety boat, overloaded with people trying to escape Kaepernicks’ “paradise” and his hero, Fidel Castro.

I wish that Kaepernick would get on a boat and “escape” the United States and all of the problems that he sees. I think a lot of people would stand on the shore and say, “Bon Voyage!”

Hence the nickname “America’s Wh*rehouse). The wealthy lived lavishly while the large majority lived without. There’s a reason why 16 people were able to convince the masses to take on an army of 40,000. Things must have been pretty bad for people to risk their lives to take on the government. America is just pissed because the revolutionary army nationalized their playground. Fidel drew millions of people out to revolutionary square when he spoke with a population a fraction of the size of NY. Can’t say an american leader has ever done that. He did not always make great decisions but the refugees left because they disagreed with his political reforms. Guess what, people are doing that every election in america.

  42. Kaepernick is a moron. Been saying it since he opened his mouth full of ignorance. But since most people don’t know what’s going on, it went over people’s heads.

We have serious problems, but Kaepernick is simply a moron.

You bring people together, not divide them.

You realize what’s going on isn’t race based, but policy based. One rule for the top .0001 percent, another for everyone else.

White people are screwed just like people of color. People of color, like Obama, have continued this tradition on.

Because it’s not race based. It’s policy based.

But Kaepernick, being a BLM idiot, thus ignorant of all that is going on around him and grabbing at the effect and not the cause, actually became exactly what he pleaded against.

You see when you are dividing the people, you just make it easier for those at the top to oppress ALL PEOPLE.

He doesn’t understand anything, he didn’t vote, he’s never registered to vote, he’s a moron. He complains about everything being race based… even when the policy is enacted by an African American… it’s white people’s fault. You have to be dumber than dirt to believe that.

  43. You really taught him a lesson KIko. Over 100 rushing yards and almost 300 passing yards. Well done. I hope he learned his lesson so I can start him on my fantasy team this week.

    ——————————————————-

No, he’s ignorant because he’s a classless, clueless, toe-tag liberal of U.S. and world history. Kaepernick is clueless about the horrific and brutal TRUTH(S) of the the Castro/Guevara revolution. Ignoring Castro’s ONE good deed (healthcare) and overlooking their numerous evils is like praising EVIL Adolf Hitler for wanting to make sure every German had their own car.

  45. “Kaepernick can have fun playing in Castro friendly Canada next year.”

Another ignorant post by an uninformed person that reads too much media.

The Canadian leader made a civil comment about someone who passed away. If your terrible and mean neighbor died you would probably say something nice if you had to speak in public yourself. If not then you are just an igiot that can’t be civil in public.

And, just because the leader says something, does not mean the people of the country think the same. That is about as dumb as it gets.

Last but not least, Kaep’s shirt was not about Castro. Castro just happened to be on it. Dumb mistake number 3… Your out.

  46. “America is just pissed because the revolutionary army nationalized their playground.”

….and many Cubans got pissed because their property and businesses got “nationalized” too. Go figure.

No. He’s ignorant because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about the majority of the time.

  51. Really funny that Kap get this much attention. He’s simply fallen under the influence of muslim sympathizes and radical professor’s who are framing his understanding and perspectives. When you think about it, it’s not unlike a community organizer from Chicago. American’s come in all shapes and sizes…you simply choose who you want to be and how you feel. People throw the Race card around like crazy. If I don’t want Muslim immigration unless extensively vetted, I am a racist and a xenophobe. If I want immigration laws to be enforced I am a racist. If I say a gorgeous woman has a better chance at employment than an unattractive woman I’m a sexist. To be honest, If I were better looking I think I would have had more job opportunities…The left in this country has become a joke….PC attitudes have become extreme…That’s what a guy who normally wouldn’t win an election did. Kap is capitalizing on the moods in the country…he’s probably ignorant but more that that he’s simply gullible.

  52. Say what you want, and im.no Kaep fan, but he brought attention, right or wrong as to how he did it, to the racism and bigotry that runs rampant in our country. I suppose folks who stole land from the indigenous people, and then found free labor to work the stolen land have issues with Kaep, and others who are searching to find a way to end the aggregated ignorance that permeates the US.

  56. I have some bad blood for Kiko for his play in Philly last year because now he’s playing like the guy Kelly thought he was getting. Not entirely his fault though because that defense was defense-less.

  57. I was fine with the kneel-down protest, but he seems more ignorant by the week and doesn’t deserve the attention he is getting. The pig socks bothered me a lot as well.

Normally you need to back up your words with actions. In this case, Kapernick’s words don’t seem to back up his actions.
