Cornerback Jimmy Smith has missed the last two games for the Ravens while he deals with a back injury, but they may get him back for this Sunday’s date with the Dolphins.

According to multiple reports from the Ravens facility, Smith was on the practice field with the team on Wednesday as they began their on-field preparations for Miami. Smith appeared to be a limited participant, but that’s a step in the right direction for a player that cornerback Shareece Wright says makes the team the best it can be.

“He’s the No. 1 corner on this team,” Wright said, via the Baltimore Sun. “He is Jimmy Smith. So whenever he’s not on the field, his presence is felt. He’s a physical guy, and he matches up well against certain guys. He has an advantage that a lot of guys don’t have. We’re a lot better when Jimmy’s on the field.”

The Ravens head into this weekend with a 6-5 record and their defense has been the main driver of a record that has the team at the top of the AFC North. Having Smith back healthy would be a plus toward ensuring the unit continues to perform at a high level as they try to secure a playoff berth.
