49ers coach Chip Kelly missed some time with the team ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bears and he’ll be away from the team in the near future as well.
Kelly traveled from Chicago to New Hampshire late on Friday after learning that his father Paul died and the players were informed of the news on Saturday morning. He returned for Sunday’s loss and said that he’ll be traveling back to be with his family on Sunday night, but that he didn’t consider missing the game.
“My mom wanted me to coach,” Kelly said, via CSNBayArea.com.
Our condolences to Kelly and his family on their loss.
