Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said last week that he would shelve his plans to return to action this season if the Vikings lost two straight games to drop out of contention for a playoff spot, but the Vikings were able to come up with their second win in their last eight games against the Jaguars last Sunday.

As a result, he says his plans to get back on the field are moving forward. During an interview with DJ Skee on DashRadio.com, Peterson said that he intends to join the team at practice this week.

“I plan on practicing this week to really get my legs under me and get a good feel on where I’m at,” Peterson said. “So, this week is going to be big for me. My plan, and my vision, is to be back for the Green Bay game [on December 24]. That’s what I’m envisioning. Of course, the perfect scenario would be we win out and I’m able to rest up for three weeks, and be ready for the playoffs. That’s the perfect scenario. But I’ll be out there this week practicing, and I’ll go from there.”

Peterson called himself a good judge of his body and said the “next couple of days” will help him figure out what he’s able to do on the field. It sounds like we’ll see Peterson on Christmas Eve if all goes well and the Vikings can do their part to make that game a big deal by running their winning streak to two against the Colts this weekend.
