The Falcons went down to the wire before making a decision on wide receiver Julio Jones’ status for last Sunday’s game against the Rams and it looks like things could be headed down that path again this week.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn said on Sirius XM NFL Radio that Jones will not practice with the rest of the team on Wednesday due to the toe injury that kept him out in Week 14. Quinn said that the team will see how he feels later in the week before determining his status.

Jones didn’t practice at all last week and early optimism about his chances of playing gave way to a spot on the inactive list. The Falcons didn’t miss him at all in a 42-14 rout that kept them ahead of the Buccaneers in the NFC South. That may play a role in the team’s decision this week as the 49ers’ 12 straight losses don’t suggest they are going to be too much for the Falcons to handle with or without Jones.

The status of wide receiver Mohamed Sanu may also play a role in their ultimate choice. Sanu missed last Sunday with a groin injury, but Quinn said he expects the wideout to practice on Wednesday.
