Linebacker Nick Moody was included on the list of players who worked out for the Chiefs as they surveyed their options in the wake of Derrick Johnson’s season-ending Achilles injury, but Kansas City will have to turn elsewhere if they want to add a player from outside the organization.

PFT has learned, via a league source, that the Redskins have signed Moody to their 53-man roster.

Moody’s addition comes after the team saw a pair of linebackers injured in last Sunday’s victory over the Eagles. Su’a Cravens hurt his elbow and linebacker Will Compton hurt his knee. Neither player will be having surgery, but coach Jay Gruden said on Monday that there’s no timeline for when the players may return so there may be a need for additional depth in the coming weeks.

Moody played three games for the Seahawks last season and 20 for the 49ers in 2013-14, but has not spent any time on the field this season. He was suspended for the first four games of the year and also dealt with some legal issues this offseason concerning his failure to appear to testify in former 49ers teammate Aldon Smith’s hit-and-run trial. Those issues were resolved when he eventually appeared.
