The Chargers have officially ruled running back Melvin Gordon out of Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders.

Gordon is out due to hip and knee injuries. He left early in last week’s game with a hip injury and did not return. Rookie Kenneth Farrow is slated to start in his place, and veteran Ronnie Hillman should also make his Chargers debut.

Farrow has 125 yards rushing on 36 carries this season.

The Chargers really don’t have much reason to bring Gordon, who’s already carried the ball 254 times this season, back this season. But he hasn’t been placed on the injured-reserve list, so a return remains possible.

After not scoring a touchdown last year as a rookie, Gordon has 10 rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns this season.
