Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey says “homer” ref should be fired

Not satisfied with contributing to his own coach’s unemployment last night, Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey wants more people fired.

Specifically, he targeted line judge Dale Shaw for being a “homer” for the Texans, and wondered if the member of Ed Hochuli’s crew was related to Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Ramsey was flagged for pass interference in the fourth quarter, on what was the Texans’ only touchdown drive of the day.

“All I know is I started that drive with my mouthpiece on my helmet, I ended that drive and my mouthpiece was on their sideline,” Ramsey said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “I’m not sure how that happens without getting called hands to the face but it did.

“Specifically I want to call out, I don’t know his name, I don’t really care for it, field judge No. 104, by far the worst official in the NFL. He needs to be fired 100 percent, terrible, terrible, terrible.”

Asked why Shaw might have had issue with him, Ramsey suggested it might have been a family tie.

“[Shaw] may be a kin to Hopkins or something, I don’t know,” the Jaguars cornerback said. “He’s just a homer, I feel like the whole officiating crew they were homers.”

Hopkins denied any relation, saying: “I definitely don’t have any family members that are referees.”

Also definite: Ramsey should expect a letter in the mail soon from the league office, as they’ve taken a dim view of criticism of their officials. And when a charge of impropriety as baseless as Ramsey’s hits, you know it will get attention.

  1. In the NFL, coaches get fired but officials don’t. I know Ramsey is only a rookie but I thought someone would have explained that to him by now.

  2. Oh jeez, another crybaby heard from. Just give him his pacifier and fine the crap out of him. One of those times players should be seen but not heard.

  3. Officials have been horrible to the Jaguars this season. Defenders could be sodomizing Allen Robinson and never get called for pass interference. In the opening game of the season alone, GB defender mauled A-Rob three times with no call. It’s not the only reason the Jaguars sucked this season, but it sure didn’t help.

Awaiting my letter from the league…

  4. We’re talking about a crew that believes the QB’s forward progress can stop on a strip sack. Anything is possible, even the baseless.
I think Wells should start a genealogy investigation to protect the integrity of the league.

  5. He needs to kkep his mouth shut, I don’t blame these guys for being frustrated. I saw so many blwn calls yesterday in a multitude of games. I am not talking about needing super slow motion to see it either. These guys are atrocious. If you are on a bad team, you get no calls. It is turning into the NBA

  6. LOL that was funny , no way where the refs homers or they would have not called Bouye TWICE for PI’s when Robinson had his arm fully extended and pushed off Bouye ……

or the no call on a facemask
or the PI on the goalline for dragging down fuller …

  7. I guess he forgot the number of times in the game he should have been called for Defensive Holding or Pass Interference and wasn’t. He should be thanking the ref for taking HIS side.

Did you even watch the game? Ramsey was the best player on defense for the Jags. Until the 4th quarter (when I’m sure he was tired since the Jags offense didn’t do anything as usual), he completely shut down Hopkins. Interception, swatting passes out of Hopkins reach, denying him in the endzone, etc.

You can accuse other players of “helping” get Bradley fired but not Ramsey.

Honestly though, the only person responsible for getting Bradley fired was Bradley.

  9. Welcome everyone to the new generation of players. Not even 1 year in the league and he runs his mouth like he has been here for a decade Get use to it. It is only going to get worse.

    “he completely shut down Hopkins”

Since when is allowing a guy 8 receptions for 87 yards a complete shut down?

Yeah, let’s just ignore that the league has an officiating problem and fine anyone who brings it up.
