The Panthers are off to a hot start and hold a 13-3 lead over the Redskins early in the second quarter Monday night.

Cam Newton hit Ted Ginn on a 30-yard touchdown pass down the middle as the Redskins blew a coverage and simply didn’t cover Ginn. An interception by Kurt Coleman after Ginn’s touchdown set the Panthers up again inside the Redskins’ 25-yard line.

The Redskins got a big stop from there, but Graham Gano’s second field goal of the night made it 13-3.

Coleman has six career interceptions vs. the Redskins. Ginn has now scored a touchdown in four of the last five games.

The Redskins are playing to keep their playoff hopes alive, but they’re going to have to play better to keep pace.
