Trae Waynes has a shoulder injury

AP

For all teams in the preseason, the No. 1 objective is this: Stay healthy.

For the Vikings, that didn’t happen on Thursday night against the Bills. Starting cornerback Trae Wayne suffered a shoulder injury.

Details aren’t yet available, but it was bad enough to knock him out of the game.

A first-round pick in 2015, Waynes is slated to be a full-time starter for the first time in his career, across from 2013 first-rounder Xavier Rhodes.

  1. It wont matter the offence doesn’t look any better than last year
PICK some GODDAMN LINEMEN in the 1st and 2nd round of the draft Rick!!! Your line SUCKS, No better or it is possibly worse than last year! Rief was horrid and got beat on nearly every snap! Plus got a holding call that brought back a big gain.. Same old CRAP that isn’t going to change by a GM who only cares to win enough games to put people in the seats.
2 sacks for the 1st team offense in a half a quarter. That equals 8 a game….yep sure is better RICK!!! I think the team needs to spend more money on a position that will help… A NEW GM!

  2. Ummm…Reiff didn’t even play. Maybe you mean Remmers? Anyway, calm down. It’s the first preseason game. Let the Packers brag about their preseason performance and we’ll see how it looks when the real games start.

Not that I’m disagreeing with everything you posted, except….RIEF DIDN’T PLAY

  4. Sorry yes Remmers..Brain fart.. But as a lifetime fan of over 50 years, this franchise is just…..STUCK, We keep spending BIG on free agents, then trading DOWN in the draft to just get more players to cut.
I like Cook but if the line can’t open any holes the Defenses are just going to keep pinning their ears back and shutting the passing game down.
This Vikings team is predictable on offense, and easily Defensed! The team has needed quality linemen on Offense for 4 or 5 years, and it has gone pretty much ignored..This is one reason we have so many injuries on that Offensive line, they are getting tossed around and so they are getting the back injuries, leg and hip issues from blocking on bad angles.
The Bills are not very good and yet they manhandled Minnesota’s line in every category.
You cannot win games if you cannot score points or have a line that can get enough push for 3rd and 2 or goal to go on the 1.
Free agents mostly Coast after getting big checks, with few exceptions. How many O linemen from Minnesota have made the Pro Bowl in the past 5 or 6 years?

Don’t go sane on me now.

  6. good god, its one preseason game. Everybody calm down.
Did anybody notice though how deep our entire defense is and we got some interesting rookie options in Coley, Cook, Elfien and Isidora? This is a fun young nucleus of players.

  7. LDB, you’ve been watching for 50 years. You should know by now that the first quarter of the first preseason game has no correlation with how the season plays out. The Patriots lost to the Jaguars – you think they’re worried?

That said, there’s a lot to be cleaned up and that’s what they’re going to be working on for the next four weeks.

  8. All these talk, makes me laugh how people make big deal about the games. Just wait till regular season. Preseason don’t mean crap. A few snaps for first team doesn’t tell anything.

  9. I hope this kid is alright. I remember when he played at Kenosha Bradford with Melvin Gordon and wanted him to become a Badger but he went to Michigan State instead.

  10. Did you guys see when Jim Marshall ran the wrong way and threw the ball out of bounds in his own end zone for a safety? That was funny.

  11. That’s it….the season is over (before it even starts this time) and I think I will burn and bury all my Vikings stuff and become a Bears fan, because the Vikes are done and I can’t be a Packers fan… I just can’t do it. WOE IS ME!!!

  12. Come on all you Chicken Littles, holy crap. A little too early to suggest the sky is falling.

I can only imagine the Patriots are in full-blown panic mode.

Take a deep breath and try to get a grip.

  13. I imagine Zimmer, the coaching staff and all the players are just throwing in the towel after this one. Dang.

I’m heading back to the coop to get some seed.

    Another eye popping performance. Skoal!

    ***

Just an FYI, I get that you are trying to intentionally misspell Skol to be cute, but it has may variations and Skoal is one of them. So…

  15. Didn’t Browns beat the Saints and Jags beat the Pats? Wow. Some body is dumb enough to say that preseason is whay determines the regular season.

  16. Everyone knows that Mike Zimmer builds his ENTIRE YEAR around the first quarter of the first preseason game. Given this well known fact it stands to reason that the Minnesota Football Club (not sure if I can even call them the Vikings) may as well stick a For Sale sign in front of that shiny new stadium and leave town.

  17. It will be a shame if he misses the season. It could be the difference between the best defense ever and the best defense of this decade.
