Marcus Peters rides stationary bike during anthem

Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters stood with a raised fist during the playing of the national anthem last season, but took a different approach during the playing of the song before Friday night’s game in Seattle.

CBS cameras showed Peters riding a stationary bike on the Kansas City sideline while the anthem played. There’s been no word from the Chiefs or Peters about the choice.

On the Seahawks sideline, defensive end Michael Bennett knelt again during the anthem. Center Justin Britt stood with his hand on Bennett’s shoulder as he did during last week’s game.

Bennett called it “emotional” to get that show of “solidarity” from Britt after the Seahawks played the Vikings.

  1. maybe next time one of these leftists call the police for help the police should take a knee efore responding

  2. Here’s an idea: Do what college basketball does – play the anthem while the teams are in the locker room. End of issue. Simply take the players out of the equation – the song isn’t for them anyway, it’s for the fans. If the players protest – who cares? They had their chance to behave, and they blew it. Treat them like children who can’t behave properly at times when they need to – simply remove them from that environment.

  3. Wow the contempt some of these entitled millionaires have towards the country is getting completely out of hand. Yes, as a country we have income inequality, yes, some bad police officers abuse their power, but I dare any of these players to go live in a third world country. In here if you are poor you have opportunities to succeed, in here if you are in trouble police, firefighters, and ambulances will come to help you, and in here despite our flawed healthcare system no hospital will let you die if you go to the ER. Stop this madness and if you want to create some change go to poor neighborhoods and actually do something. Disrespecting the anthem has achieved nothing.

Why do all the black players take a knee with out the NFL what kind of jobs would they have?

Like myself, some would be professionals with multiple degrees including a law degree and Master’s in Business earning six figures…

  5. This is just outrage bait. Everyone is so sensitive now that everything said or done has to be analyzed and picked apart so you or someone else can be offended. This goes for EVERYONE. The behavior of the people in this country boarders on satire. Who gives a sh*t?

  6. I think I’d rather get a tee time than see these ungrateful “Americans” disgrace the flag again. Good Luck NFL.

  7. This country wouldn’t be as dominant as it is without a few hundred years of free labor to help build it.

Remember that next time you criticize an African American about anything.

Think about how profitable a business would be if it didnt have to pay its employees.

Big part of the reason the United States grew and became so powerful so fast.

    Remember that.

  8. I still dont think many of you guys understand. You guys talk about how the police shouldnt help them if they call for the cops. I guarantee you most of these guys had bad experiences with cops. I worked with this white dude a few years back and some guys were talking about racial profiling from the cops and he said”thats b.s., cops dont do that”. It just made me realize how clueless some of you guys are that have never had to encounter these kinds of situations. Honest to god truth, when i was younger we would get pulled over maybe 60-70% of the time we went out at night on the weekends and it would always be because it “looked like” we werent wearing any seatbelts or another popular reason was that our car fit the description from a crime that had just been committed. Everyone would have to exit the car with our hands up and get searched and often times the k9 would get brought in. . . .for no reason. Other than just being in a car full of brown skinned teenagers and young men. So all you privileged all americans can sit here and talk all this mess about how they’re disrespecting this country and whatever, but theyre just expressing their rights as american citizen without breaking any laws. So if some of you guys dont like it, maybe YOU should leave this country because they have every right as an american to peacefully protest. My uncle fought in vietnam and told me when he came back home he got spit on and things thrown at him just because he was fighting for his country and defending our freedom. And that was by people who supposedly were these great americans who were acting like they were doing what was best for this country but were actually doing nothing but complaining and not doing a thing to help the situation. . . .kinda like most of you guys complaining on here. Im sure all of you have always stood with your hand over your heart with your hat off every time the anthem is played, right?

  9. Probably the best solution I have heard. Play the Anthem before they come out of the locker rooms. Great idea. As far as the protests go. You are protesting that cops are arresting and roughing up black guys? #1, don’t run from the cops and simply comply with them from the start and you won’t get roughed up, #2 if you are not committing a crime and don’t have any warrants, you won’t be arrested. Don’t do a crime, you won’t spend any time.

  10. People who disrespect the anthem come from families who have never “served” there is no tradition of service or appreciation for sacrifice, and commitment to country and community. Which really tells you all you need to know.

  11. Maybe instead of “raising a fist, riding a bike, or taking a knee<" they could do a little research & actually see where the "Injustice" is actually happening. less than 4 percent nation wide police killings are black. there is more white & brown shot on average. Also, most deaths are black on black deaths than anything more…. thats the real injustice….. but than that would go against the real problem….grow up guys & do some research.

  12. The thing that gets me is all these players are doing their own version of protest. We have players sitting on the bench with a towel over their head, players standing with their fist raised, players kneeling, players praying in a circle, and now players on stationary bikes. Lol They look like a hot mess!

I’ve heard them say they want to use their platform to be the voice of the people, yet they say nothing.

  13. What a turn-off—-again this year I will only watch the games played by my favorite team and use the time that I would have wasted on more productive activities.

  14. No respect for a symbol of a country that give them the opportunity to play a GAME, getting the amount of pay in one year that many in this country won’t make in a life time. Disrespecting ones who have put their lives on the line so we can enjoy the things we do in the United Stares. In the mane of injustice.

  15. Seems to be some selective outrage here. If you are going to be of the opinion that sitting down during the Natuonal Anthem is some kind of insult to the military, then it is 100% hypocritical to give our draft dodger president a free pass on saying he “only likes the troops that don’t get captured,” which is far more of an insult to our fine folks in the military.

It’s a sad state of affairs that this kind of post get posted, approved by the mods on this site, and has a 3:1 ratio of thumbs up to down.

And America wonders why Kaepernick takes a knee.

  17. Good thing he has all that money from playing a kid’s game. He can leave this horrible country whenever he wants.

Exactly. Some. in fact, very few would be by comparison. Degrees are a dime a dozen in America today! Lawyers can’t find jobs-too many following that dream, today. Here in the NFL, practically ALL have the opportunity to be set for life (barring some bad investments) and retire from the grind by age 30. And forever have that exclusive association. And now many media opportunities follow. And summers free. They play ball from August until December. There is no other job like sports and entertainment.
