Saints cut John Kuhn, again

For the second time this month, the Saints have released fullback John Kuhn.

The Saints cut Kuhn on September 3 and then re-signed him on September 6, and it’s possible they’re planning something similar this time around: New Orleans may not plan to use many offensive formations with a fullback on Sunday against the Panthers, making Kuhn expendable, but they could bring him back next week if they want to have a fullback on the roster.

It’s also possible that some other team could sign Kuhn, although in today’s NFL there aren’t a lot of teams eager to add fullbacks.

Cutting Kuhn frees up the roster spot that the Saints will use for the newly signed Kendall Langford.

Most overrated player in the history of the NFL.

    Vick owns this title.

  2. 20 years ago the tight end had a mostly one dimensional role. Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski,Travis Kelce and others have certainly changed that. Last Sunday against the Saints the Patriots had fullback James Devlin split wide right on several plays and threw to him twice. He caught one. In a pass happy league, could we see an expanded role for the fullback?

  4. We even had to listen to that dumb chant at the Vikes/Saints Monday night game. The damn guy will probably sign with the Vikes’ next opponent.

No, that honor would go to Teddy Bridgewater.
I have never seen so much hype over a QB that has such obvious backup skills.
Calling him mediocre is being kind.

  7. So, if he was on the roster week 1 (not sure if he was), then his entire deal is guaranteed, right? If that were true, then he isn’t out much to get a few weeks off here and there.

Or, as noted, no one is really looking for FBs, so even if his deal isn’t guaranteed, part time NFL salary is more than most of us make.

  8. If I was him, I’d be asking my agent to put out feelers to find out who else might be interested in my services and won’t keep jerking me around.
