NFL will televise unity spot during Sunday Night Football

A day of protests but also displays of togetherness will end with the league televising a “unity” spot during Sunday Night Football on NBC.

The 60-second video, narrated by Forest Whitaker, begins as follows: “Inside these lines, we don’t have to come from the same place, to help each other reach the same destination. Inside these lines, we may have our differences, but recognize there is more that unites us.”

The spot shows a crew preparing a field, along with images of players and fans “overcoming differences and banding together,” according to the league.

If nothing else, the events of the last 48 hours have caused a new sense of unity among players, coaches, and front offices. Hopefully it will last.

  1. Please look at your tickets. Does it say for football and political protest. You are a captive audience. All ticket holders should sue the NFL and the NFLPA for forcing this on the ticket buyer.

  2. Trump totally baited the left to react, and they did, this is hardly a winning political issue. The NFL is in a no win situation and will lose millions no matter what they do now.

If the left wants to make the next election about protesting the anthem, males using the ladies room, socialized medicine and tearing down statues; they will lose again. That is what he is setting up. Trump is playing chess and the left is playing checkers.

  3. Thank you. Remember the flag represents the United States, not the divided states. It seems the only people who hate America are Trump and his handful of sheep. Trump is way more popular in Russia than he is America. Are you with us or the Russians?

  4. And to the dude that says Trump is playing chess and consequently lost …EVERONE on this issue including all the Right Wing billionaires …

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Oh how sweet…Unity inside the NFL…as they sit around the campfire singing Kumbaya. Guess what’s missing there in their little unity fest? FANS!!!! Without the fans, the NFL is nothing. I for one have officially boycotted this garbage and know a great many people who are doing likewise. Goodbye NFL, you won’t be missed!

  6. I wonder how bad the ratings will be after this week lol! I know lots of people who purposely avoided turning on football games because of this idiocy. I believe the ratings will take a hard hit this week. Also you got to love the Steelers karma losing to the awful bears. LMAO! Karma for Tomlin!

  7. If this keeps up..Halftime speeches will take the place of entertainment…Known as 1984 Propaganda, preaching group think…

How is a Democrat ever going to win western Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin again? You see Trump realizes he is unpopular, so he is pushing the left farther to the left, making them even less popular. I don’t like Trump, but if he is the nominee I HAVE to vote for him to keep the looney left out of power.

  9. Trump lost Bradshaw. Let me say that again. Trump lost Bradshaw. Just sayin’.
    ——————————————————————————–

Is Bradshaw a political mind to be revered and followed or did Terry see images of Curt Schilling and ESPN…I am thinking the latter.

  10. I wish you Trump backers had half the energy to put into America and Americans as you did cheap and tawdry populism, being sold by a hypocritical shyster like some star spangled pimp.

  11. Thank you. Remember the flag represents the United States, not the divided states. It seems the only people who hate America are Trump and his handful of sheep. Trump is way more popular in Russia than he is America. Are you with us or the Russians?

Ummm point of order, which group is disrespecting the flag and who is doing the dividing?? I think the economy, job growth, lowest unemployment in 20 years… and the NFL ratings drop are a good clue to your answer….and explains who and what is at fault…

  12. Unity is overrated, since it is often used to paper over serious disputes.

It’s also impossible, judging by the comments here and everywhere else.

Well, maybe we can all unite on the new Star Trek.

  13. Trump is more offended by a black ball player peacefully protesting racism than he is by actual racism.
He calls Kaepernick a “son of a b*tch”.
    He calls Nazis “good people”.
    Draw your own conclusions.

  14. The players might as well protest forever. Protest police brutality? It will always be out here just as there will always be people that cry brutality in any circumstance. Protest inequality? What does that even mean? Equality of income or opportunity? Life will never be equal and that includes those well off vs those that are more well off. Who decides when inequality has progressed to equality? There will always be inequality and there will always be people that will never recognize that equality exists because that would render them useless.

  15. Didn’t watch a game all day and don’t plan to start tonight if it involves having a lie filled agenda crammed down my throat. Wanna talk about equality ya know I was never given the chance to play in the NFL or own a team and I would’ve thought for sure my “white priviledge” could enable both. How about turning over a team or roster spot to me? You know for equality

And this is what we have really come to. The left and right finally having moved so far to their respective extremes that they are no longer capable of seeing the overwhelming majority of us here in the middle just prying for sanity to return.

  17. Wait til the ratings come out. The league will backpedal on this false “unity” narrative like an all pro corner.People on going to start leaving the NFL games in droves. Myself included.

  18. Wait…I thought this uproar against the protests was for “disrespecting the flag”? Now y’all have a problem with a commercial that doesn’t disrespect the flag? Where does it end??

  19. So….unity against Trump but not: CTE’s, domestic violence, gang violence, poverty, opioids, failing schools or pretty much anything of actual consequence. But Trump hurt their feelings so…

  20. I hate politics! I Loved the NFL because I could get away from the incessant wining of people toting their ideology for at least a few hours. Now, the NFL condones the disrespect of our flag, the symbol of the very freedom earned by hundreds of thousands who gave their lives so they could make a life for themselves. Congrats NFL. No more political relief for me so no more NFL in my life! IF there was supposed to be a message in all this somewhere, you all lost it when you disrespected my country and what it stands for!

  23. As a fan, i don’t really care about unity. I care about disrespect for the flag, anthem and nation. Their idea of unity shows that many more have that same level of disrespect.

Can we all just take a minute and, no matter what we’ve all posted on here, understand how much truth there is to this statement. Nail on the head bro. Especially as die hard football fans who were once united for our love and/or resentment of different teams/players? This has gotten way out of hand for a football site….and I’m not missing my Cowboys play tomorrow night no way no how.

  26. I have to say unity will change when it eats into the wallet. That’s the NFL right there in a nutshell. The owners will grip and the players won’t get the same kind of TV revenue to share with themselves. I didn’t even bother watching Sunday night football.

  27. 2 years ago i watched 6 games a week. Roger let hgh manning get away with murder, cheated other teams out of the trophy so his buddy could go out on a high note. complete riggage.
1 years ago i watched 1-3 games a week – the bs cheating continued and the kneeling was added in
this year I have watched 3 quarters of football. now that they have taken in with the snowflakes i will just stop supporting them altogether.
goodell has destroyed this league. allowing teams to cheat and keep the rewards, helping teams to push a storyline (donks) and now bringing politics into the equation.
this league is in serious trouble.
    i miss real football!
