Carlos Hyde: We’ll win the Super Bowl next year

The 49ers won for the fourth time in as many weeks by beating the Jaguars on Sunday and that Jimmy Garoppolo-fueled change of fortunes after a 1-10 start has people thinking big about the future.

Running back Carlos Hyde believes that the team’s run is just getting started. Hyde is set for free agency this offseason and said after Sunday’s game that he wants to stay put so he can be part of what’s going to happen in 2018.

“Minus our record, we’re a really good football team. Next year we’re going to win the Super Bowl,” Hyde said, via Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group.

Differences from year to year can be stark in the NFL, but the 49ers are as good a bet as any to continue getting better. General Manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan made major changes to the roster before trading for Garoppolo and now they’ll have a chance to finish retooling the roster with the quarterback in place.

  1. People are going to hate and rightfully so. But the Niners lost 5 games by 3 points or less. Flip that and it’s 10-5. Put Jimmy G in the lineup during those days and it could be even better. I’m not going to play the coulda woulda but it’s not as far fetched as it sounds. Idk about the Superbowl but the playoffs next year is definitely doable.

  2. As a Bucs fan I’m very jealous my longtime safety is the gm for San Fran. Jimmy is playing lights out, they will add some talent and definetly contest next year for the NFCw!

  3. Jimmy “Franchise” is going to have to school Hyde on the Bill Belichick philosophy.

“When you lose say little. When you win say less.”

  4. Don’t know about winning the SB, but SF will now have a luxury that they didn’t have before. They will be able to concentrate on putting additional talent around an apparent franchise QB, and not have to look for a franchise QB in the draft or FA.

  5. So the deal is now complete. Belichick paid off Shanahan to call those stupid plays in the Super Bowl in exchange for trading Jimmy G for only a second round pick. That was some stupid play calling by Shanahan in not running the ball in the SB and one dumb trade by Belichick who was offered much more Jimmy G. Seriously, I’m happy for Jimmy G and the Niners.

  6. Team has a talent. They should because they have draft in the top half most years. But they have lacked a QB.

Garoppalo looks very good for a guy with little experience. He is accurate, has a good arm but most importantly makes good decisions under pressure.

  7. Sports analysts are going ga ga over the Ravens, a team that has not beaten a single playoff bound team yet this season. Some even predict the Ravens will win the SB. The Niners current winning streak includes wins over the Jaguars and the Titans. One of them is playoff bound, and the other one may back into the playoffs.

  8. The 9ers should not have much trouble re-signing Hyde, because running backs don’t get big pay checks from NFL teams, and because Hyde is not one of the leading rushers in the league.

  9. The 49ers will be an even better team next season, when guys on IR are returning to the team. They also draft reasonably high so they are going to add more talent via the draft. They also have a lot of salary cap space, and so they can add free agents to areas of need. People who equate the 49ers with the dysfunctional Browns really do not know what they are talking about.

  10. That’s actually true, I forgot about all the 1 and 2 point losses to begin the season. This team really could have made the playoffs this year. Only a few playmakers away from contending…. Saquon Barkley? 🙂

  11. Considering the hot hand that they’re riding going into this offseason, they should be competitive next year. At the very least, winning helps in attracting free agents to SF that would otherwise take a pass at joining a losing program. Their young nucleus should continue to improve and Garoppolo has proven to be a difference maker.

  12. Garoppolo is the best quarterback the 49ers have had since Jeff Garcia and it’s not even close.

Lots of young talent just starting to find their footing in this league ready to hit the next level on this squad.

They’re going to be incredible next year, and for years to come.

  13. The Rams and 49ers are going to make that division fun to watch over the next few years. Arizona Cardinals fans get used to having to be the doormat of that division for the foreseeable futute
